Re: Six Weeks To OMG diet - is anybody trying this? I am!
Just shows how everyone is different and what works for one person may not for another. I cant face eating until I have been awake for at least 2 hours, just the thought of it makes me feel sick!
The same approach isnt going to work for everyone, its about finding the one that works for you.

Re: Six Weeks To OMG diet - is anybody trying this? I am!
I've read '6 weeks' and didn't get on with the author's writing style, but I have lost 3 stone doing primal/paleo. I skip breakfast most days and feel brighter and more alert as a result. I'm quite happy with a big mug of coffee! I refuse to do a cold plunge--haven't done baths since I got stuck in one at 39 weeks pregnant and my SPD wouldn't let me haul myself out
--but I do a cold blast for a few minutes in the shower. I have no idea if it's the cold shower or the food I'm eating, but my skin looks loads better.
Frankly, I'm quite happy with my "fad" diet.
Good luck, Damz!Lucas ~*~ 22.10.06

I'm the same, I loathe eating breakfast. I don't need to eat until about 11am most days.
I'm just about to start cutting wheat/gluten out of my diet, to see if it makes a difference, as well as fizzy drinks (apart from Prosecco
). I feel horribly sluggish and bloated, and I always notice a difference when I've drunk less diet coke, or had a 'low carb' day.

Re: Six Weeks To OMG diet - is anybody trying this? I am!
It's pretty much accepted advice that underactive thyroid sufferers should avoid wheat and try to adopt a low carb diet, so normal rules of everything in moderation don't apply as what sort of food you consume can very much affect how you feel day-to-day.
If your immunue system is already compromised cutting out a food group or group(s) is not a fad, or bandwagon jumping it makes sense to eat for your own personal health. It's hard enough to lose any weight at all when you're hypothyroid and that is a fact.
Donna, I am still trying to get my head around all the information surrounding hypothyrodisim and I know low carb Paleo has worked well for you, I'm open to anything that can improve my general health and am going to be doing some further research and will probably be asking you lots of questions in the near future.

For those who say they need breakfast, Fulton says that if you do it for a few days you will get over that.
I have even managed to do an exercise class with no breakfast, because as he says, once your body is exercising it concentrates on that, rather than on feeling hungry.Call me (Mrs) Damz

I have started low carb/ primal and in 4 short weeks am almost off my blood pressure meds. And I was on a lot of blood pressure meds, as it had proved very hard to control on my previous carb rich diet. I check my BP every day and the curve downwards on the chart in the past 4 weeks is genuinely astonishing. This is my new lifestyle, if I go back to how I was I deserve everything I get!

Re: Six Weeks To OMG diet - is anybody trying this? I am!
Donna, my comment about diets was in no way aimed at you. I'm sorry if you feel like I am 'attacking' you in any way about this, because I'm not, and it was never my intention to do that.
You obviously have a reason why you need to avoid wheat, it makes you feel bad - I can't have lots of caffeine, it makes me feel bad, so I don't. That's not what I was trying to say at all. You also obviously have medical issues that mean it's hard for you to maintain your weight, and that's a different thing entirely from my friends hopping on and off of diets all the time.
I'm not going to post on this thread any more, because what I said was misconstrued. I don't want to upset anyone, that was never my intention.Dilly xx
