Patio Awnings/sun shade
Has anyone bought a retractable awning above a patio door? His wondered if there are any to avoid or recommended.
Our garden has no shade so I need somewhere for the children to play. The dining room is unbearably warm so a shade over the patio could be the answer.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

Yes please, I don't want to buy something then realise it is flimsy/no use.

PIL have one over their decking and love it. For some reason I thought it was by Thomas Sanderson but I can't see anything on their website so I may have that wrong.

Mum and Dad can't remember where they got it from but if you want an 8ft one then you can have theirs as they got a conservatory and it's been in their garage the last few years...

Chell, you can get heat reflective film for windows - DH kept talking about it in our last house, as it used to get very hot in the breakfast room bit of the kitchen in the afternoon - stuff like this. Obviously, it wouldn't help for the garden (we had the same problem in that house) though.
