Those of you that have taken chlomid...
Just wondered if you could share your experience.
my friend has just got this and is on her first cycle of it.
firstly she can not believe how "hormonal" it has made her and how no one warned her about this!
but she is on day 12 and has been for a scan which showed OV hasn't happened yet so she'll have a blood test next week.
is this fairly standard, could she still OV this month, could it be she needs a higher does etc??

I've taken clomid. Have to go to ritual torture (aka school play!) just now, but will come back later.

Re: Those of you that have taken chlomid...
Ive taken clomid. I got pregnant on my 3rd cycle of it. The mood swings were terrible and after taking the 3rd cycle I had already decided that I wasn't taking anymore. Luckily for me I got caught on that month so I didn't have to take another course.
I felt the rage like no other time and I would go from laughing one minute to crying the next.
Good luck to your friend.

Re: Those of you that have taken chlomid...
I had hormonal rage too! And terrible itching. I found the side effects were much less difficult to deal with if I took the tablets at night though.
When I ovulated on clomid, it happened very early in my cycle, but I didn't have any scans so I can't comment on that. I did have a day 21 blood test which I was told showed that I hadn't ovulated. The next day I had a positive pregnancy test, and it turned out that someone had mixed my results up.

Thanks girls
I will pass the advice on, my friend has been really struggling with things recently so was surprised the nurse hadn't warned her - sounds horrible! Good advice about taking it in the evenings!
queenie can't believe your blood test showed you hadnt ovulated and you were pg

Re: Those of you that have taken chlomid...
Despite having a regular cycle with ovulation, I was also given Clomid for a couple of months and it also gave me crazy hormonal ups and downs - awful.
Your friend has my sympathies, it is evil stuff.
As for whether she will ovulate, usually a day 12 scan shows follicles, and is followed up a day or two later to monitor their growth, so I'm not sure why she's only being offered a blood test a week later.

Re: Those of you that have taken chlomid...
I fell preg on my 6th & final cycle of Clomid. I did 3 months on 50mg and 3 months on 100mg.
TBH I really only suffered mood swings the first couple months, like someone else suggested, def worth taking before bed so side effects at their strongest whilst sleeping.
I didn't have any scans whilst on it to confirm ovulation but Clomid brought my cycles down from 45+ days to 34ish so I never ovulated until CD18/19/20 so a scan on CD12 would have been negative for ovulation if I had one.
CH also had a scan which indicated no ovulation & she got her BFP that cycle x

Re: Those of you that have taken chlomid...
Thanks girls... Seems confusing, did a bit of a google search and it talks about follicle size a day 12 so perhaps that's what she meant?? She had said something about being told not to have sex until this scan in case it made her ovulate too much?? But have also read loads about ovulation taking place later than the standard so maybe this will be the case, I know she has very long cycles. Thanks for your advice
