How do i stop he from scratching?
Baby A still has eczema, it has improved tho with wysoy formula and giving her piriton at night along with a low steroid eumovate gel BUT she still scratches and scratches even when theres no eczema, she creates it again and sometimes scratches so much it bleeds. In winter, it was easy to stop her scratching as she wore long sleeve tops but now its hot and her skin is exposed, she has started scratching again. It is such a battle, and i find she does it more when shes tired or a bit stressed.
I am always cutting her nails to lessen the damage.
wot else can i do?Mummy to Three girlies.......DD1 9yrs........DD2 4yrs..........DD3 is 1yr old!

Re: How do i stop he from scratching?
Your best bet is probably to find some cool long sleeved, well fitting clothes. My DS lilved in sleepsuits at 18 months and there was no way he could have worn shorts or short sleeve t-shirts. We wet wrapped at night and for afternoon sleeps and that whole process is cooling, but a bit extreme. I know it seems crazy to go for long sleeves, but it's worth it in our experience.
HAve a look on eczema clothing . com for ideas. It is very expensive, but for us it was worth it.

Re: How do i stop he from scratching?
My DD has really bad eczema too, also improved by staying dairy-free but I find it flares in heat. Can I ask how you came about giving her piriton? Is it prescription or over the counter? And do you use it every day or only when she is scratchy in the day?
Obviously I haven't managed to find anything that really works, atm I control it ok-ish with hydrocortisone when its bad, then 50:50 petroleum at night which is ridiculously greasy and doublebase in the mornings.no matter how far you have travelled down the wrong road, you can always turn around.

Hi Shoppie, We have seen so many different GPs at the surgery and the last one was the one who said give her Piriton on prescription, you can use it from one year, its got a foul taste tho and makes her cough. However we were instructed to use it for one week, one dose every night and it did really help but we are at square one again so are seeing that GP for a follow up Monday.
I think you can buy the kids piriton over the counter too.
Ive been looking into silk type clothing for her but OMG its so expensive.
