Newly night time toilet trained and staying in hotels ...
... what's the best way to deal with this?
That's DS1 out of night time pull-ups for 2 weeks now (or is it 3? Lost track already!), he has wet the bed twice so is not 100% reliable, even if he hadn't I'd probably still be nervous ... we are going to Legoland and London next weekend and staying in 2 different hotels for 4 nights. Should I just ask him to wear a pull-up for those 4 nights? Or should I buy some of those disposable mattress pad thingies?
I don't want to have to take too much luggage either as I'm travelling down on my own, so 4xnappies would be more practical from this pov than 4x mattress pads and 4 x jammy bottoms.
Plus I have loads of pull ups left!
Don't want to sabotage the nappy-free experience though
that's the most important aspect really.

I would take a waterproof sheet, and put him to bed without a pull-up, but then when he's fast asleep, stick a pull-up on him. That way he still thinks he's gone to bed without one, but you've got the security of knowing that if he does happen to wee, it won't go on the sheets.

Hmmm, he's 8 so really tricky to get the pull-up on him whilst asleep.

I would use the pull ups. If he's really "got it" then I can't see the pull up making any difference. I don't think he would wee in them just because they're there.
ETA - if he's 8, then you could definitely reason with him and tell him why you're doing it.
I've worked in housekeeping in hotels when backpacking where people's kids have wet the beds and they've just nicked off and left it. Maddening!!!

That is gross, I'd be mortified.
Right, I think I'll go with the pull-ups and remind him that he'll get a reward or something if he keeps it dry. I don't think he'll mind too much putting it on, I'm just scared it makes him lazy.
We'll be going for a 2 week holiday in a couple of months, so it'll give me a good idea of what to expect for it, too
Thanks all.

My tip for children in hotel rooms is to give/buy them a torch for under the pillow so they know where they are if they wake up & can find their way to an unfamiliar loo.
We used disposable bed mats.

Oh for goodness sake you lot, make your mind up

I think I'll have a chat with him about it before we go and see what he says. If he agrees with a pullup then I'll do that, but if he objects then I'll get the protectors. They don't know we are going yet

Sorry
I just struggled to get my two back in pull ups once they were dry. See what he thinks

My DS is 8 and under the bed wetting clinic. He went for several months with dry beds then has had a spell of wetting again. If we go to a hotel then he wears Drynites. It is his choice. ;-). I say that I can limit his drinks later on like we do at home or he can have juice etc (usually eat out) and he can wear the Drynites. He chooses the drinks.

Meant to add, a mattress protecter would be useless for my DS as he soaks the quilt too. Luckily he only has a summer weight duvet so I can wash it easily at home.
