    Hose pipe ban

We are with Thames water, anyone know if the ban will be lifted anytime soon?

I would love Mr Thames water boss to come around and water my garden via watering can. Ive just done it because my plants were wilting and at 8 months pregnant my back is killing me. Won't be doing it again

    Don't think so

I've just done mine and that was hard enough - it must be really tough when you're pregnant

Tbh, I'd be tempted to use the hose and your pregnancy as justification for using it...

Thanks Bluebabe, I didn't think so :( My neighbour suggested using my 4am insomniac hour to just go out and use the hose

I know they've lifted it for garden centres and so on, but I can't see them lifting it for domestic use any time soon. DH does the watering in our garden. It's his wind-down activity when he gets home from work

And I think London and the SE are still in drought. I worry about my lovely London garden we left in the care of our tenants.

I only water pots, so it doesn't take too long/isn't too onerous. I have less pots now than when I was pg I don't water anything else, it has to take its chances. I've never 'watered the garden', using a hose or a watering can, and it's always been fine - through several droughts

I don't think that there are any plans to lift it at all during the summer (according to their website).

I can't see them lifting it. I start off watering with a bit of enthusiasm, but halfway through, i'm swearing like a good 'un.

I didn't realise there was still a hosepipe ban, bought one yesterday and kids were playing in the sprinkler Whoops! How do you find out there is a hosepipe ban? I don't watch the news as I work evenings, thought they would put letters out or something but I haven't received anything.

Me neither. I've filled the paddling pool and promised the kids they can water the garden at the w/e if it's still sunny

I agree though, letters or an email/text would be good for those of us who don't watch every news bulletin.

Look on the website for your water company.

We are South East Water and still have a ban.

We are Thames Water and the ban is still on. I'm not watering my garden but using the watering can for my veg in pots and troughs. It only takes about three cans, they don't seem to be doing too badly

I don't regularly check my water company's website either.

I'm sure there is a ban, but if they're that worried about it why rely on people watching the news to get the message Most people are signed up for email/text so it wouldn't even take a written letter.

Or do you think they're secretly hoping to fine a few people for some revenue

We are with veolia and still have a ban, despite them taking bloody ages to come and fix the leak that burst through my drive way, flooded our road and nearly flooded our house
i agree, It is strange there's been no official notice put out, it's not on any evening news or anything and I'm sure we didn't be a notice to start with.
apprently, if you have a blue badge you are can still use your hose pipe because of it being a struggle to carry watering cans, I reckon you could probably argue, the same applies to being 8 months pregnant

    Re: Hose pipe ban

You can still use a paddling pool etc but you must fill it up by carrying buckets of water from your kitchen tap not your hose pipe...I suppose it means a lot of people won't bother but seems a bit silly.
