Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
first of all... am not pregnant. Blood test at hospital has confirmed that I am not preggers so it is not even a remote possibility....
About two weeks ago, around OV time, I started having a lot of discomfort around my left side.
To cut a long story short, four visits to different doctors, several different diagnoses it now looks as though it is an ovarian cyst or cysts (Awaiting further tests but GP has found "something sinister" in internal exam).
Anyway... I feel so bloated, tender and nauseuous. But the strangest symptom is the feeling of fluttery/ bubbling like those first early movements in pregnancy. These are several times a day and strange indeed. - Anyone have similar experience?
Could be a few weeks before I see gynae - at the moment am living on naproxen and kapake to deal with the pain.Mum, writer, occasional nutcase.

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
Yes I have had that. I get terrible mid-cycle bleeding too. My GP thought she felt something but by the time I went for an ultrasound there was nothing there. I felt a lot of 'bubbling' on one side at that time, almost like a zip going up and down and I think it may have been it bursting???
I used progesterone cream at that point too and I think it may have got rid of it, which is why there was nothing on the ultrasound. It made me really put weight on though

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
I suffer a lot from left sided ovarian pain and constant tenderness for around 1 week up to ovulation. My doctor thinks it's because of scarring (also have suspected endo) so when the egg starts to come through the ovary doesn't like it.
It's always the same side and I *think* it's the working side (I had a scan years ago when they said it looked like one side was all glued up which I think was the other side) so I guess that side has had to work hard over the years.
I hope they get to the bottom of it for you as the pain must be horrible.DS born April 2007

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
I had a big ovarian cyst (well I thought it sounded big, about 3cm by 3cm
) but I only had really bad pain during my period. The gynae told me it was because often at that time they start to twist, and can eventually rupture, so they pull on all the ligaments that attach the ovary to the uterus and the abdominal wall
It certainly bloody hurt (I've had two babies with just a whiff of gas and air, but I passed out with the pain of this). I was very relieved to have it aspirated and get rid of it!
I never had any fluttery feelings, but I can see how you might

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
Thanks... interesting all.
DillyDally, my periods have definitely been heavier lately and the pain is extreme (Can honestly equate it to contractions at times).
GP phoned this morning and said she hoped hospital would see me within the next week. But am also due AF, so would they do an internal or external ultrasound?

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
I lost one ovary due to repeated cysts. The pain I had was like someone had stabbed me with a screwdriver and was turn it - although mine had twisted. I di have bloated ness and would feel sick. A couple of times mine burst and after the initial pain the relief was indescribable. I hope that you get it sorted soon, I really sympathise as it isn't pleasant.
When I was admitted to the hospital they did internal ultrasounds which wasn't actually that bad.

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
i had both my ovaries removed last September due to ovarian cysts caused by stage 4 endomitriosis (i'm a difficult case..loads of other stuff wrong with me).. my cysts were eventually 11cm and 13cm - they were aspirated but filled up within a couple of weeks.
I had a few transvaginal ultrasounds and they actually arent that bad sweetheart...
The pain from my cysts was extreme, so bad i blacked out a few times...there was nothing that would make the pain go apart from the 4 days i had actual period...rest of the time was constant. I was bloated, craps, leg pain, i felt sick. - i got some wheat or gel packs that you put in the micro, it sometimes helped wiht the paid.
I hope you see your gynae soon lass and get to the bottom of your pain xxx

Re: Experience of ovarian cysts - feels like a baby kicking?
It was a while ago, AG, and I had an external ultrasound - maybe if they want a better/different view they do internal as well.
I've always had really heavy periods, though, my GP suspects fibroids

How bizarre, I am sitting here as we speak with exactly that feeling around my ovary. Have felt it lots of times before and never associated it with ovulation but just checked my dates and its spot on. Luckily I don't get the pain, its just uncomfortable, but hopefully the "movement" is just ovulation.
