What are you doing for the Jubilee?
A group of 24 of us are going away camping for the weekend with tents bedecked in bunting, games of pin the tail on the corgi and much quaffing of Pimms!
On Jubilee Day itself I'm hosting a "Blooming Great Jubilee Tea Party" to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care
http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/en-gb/f...eat-tea-party/
The dress code is red, white and blue. Got a cute Minnie Mouse jubilee T for Iona in Primark plus some union jack deeply boppers and sunspecs. Fab party stuff in Poundand and Poundworld so got some napkins, tablecloth, paper plates, bunting, paper cups and a cake stand. Crown cookie cutters from Lakeland.

Re: What are you doing for the Jubilee?
On the common 4 doors down from my house there will be a band and entertainment. The local neighbours will take a picnic and generally relax and enjoy ourselves. This is on the Sunday. Timothy's birthday is the 1st so on the 2nd we will go and do something as a family

I. Just. Don't. Care.
CErtainly don't need an excuse to have a party - who on earth ever does?

Re: What are you doing for the Jubilee?
On the Saturday, we are going to a neighbour's for a patriotic barbecue.
And on the Sunday we are going to London to watch the Queen's river procession, somewhere on the riverbank. And then, when it's passed, somewhere more civilised with a bar
A friend of ours is a herald and will be on the barge in front of her!
I remember watching the Silver Jubilee as a child
and would like DD to have an equally memorable day.

Re: What are you doing for the Jubilee?
Haven't got anything planned but we will do something for the kids, even if it's just dressing up or buying them some cakes. They're more excited about the Olympics tbh, and we just see it as an extra Bank Holiday.
But I'm not all bah-humbug about it, I remember 1977 well and it was a fabulous time, would love to recreate that for the kids. Just finding it a bit hard to plan for the future atm.

Re: What are you doing for the Jubilee?
We're not doing anything either, although I'll be 37 ish weeks pregnant so probably not in the mood for doing anything at all

The only thing we might do is drive down to see my parents (hour away) as their neighbours, with whom we're quite friendly, are having a lunch-time do. But that will depend on how I'm feeling.

Final go at posting this (BoardExpress or whatever it's called is playing up). It's MIL's birthday on 1 June so for her (eye-wateringly expensive) present we are going to be on a boat on the Thames watching the pageant go by.

Re: What are you doing for the Jubilee?
We are going to our neighbourhood street party. It's been organised by the local businesses and they are closing the high street in the village. I am looking forward to it.

Re: What are you doing for the Jubilee?
We're having a street party again this year. I'm not desperately excited about it, but it'll be nice enough. I don't have any other plans so I'll go along. I have been ordered to provide some desserts again this year so I will need to do that and may as well socialise for a bit too.

M is strangely excited too, except he still can't get his head round us not having a king (I suspect he thinks the Queen should be at home doing the cooking or something while 'the King' does the work
