Re: How do you feel about the olympics?

If anyone still wants tickets, another batch goes up for sale on Wednesday, not sure of the time but the details are on the ticketing website

The Paralympic tickets went up today as well

I was ok with it at first, naively I imagined Londoners, or local clubs at least, would get first dibs on some of the tickets. Not the whoevers got the most money to gamble thousands in the farce it is. Now I'm just right pissed off, and have seriously thought about renting the house out for 3k a week and going on holiday.

My husband has paid his dues to London swimming for over 40 years, as an athlete and now as a coach. Me, or my daughters these days, have been members of British gymnastics for 30 years. Yet it's that bloke with 10 thousand pounds to bid for tickets that's getting to go...

Thats the general sale to the public. Considering I got nothing in the first round, or subsequent "priority" rounds, I don't think there's any chance of getting anything but football.

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?

I'm reasonably excited - although no more so than if they were being held elsewhere. Having said that the torch goes through here and the school is doing something so I will go along to that with all the kids. I'm not going to get to see that again in my lifetime so I'm not passing up the chance. I'll probably watch the hockey, the diving, some of the swimming, the cycling and a selection of the track events.

This is deeply unfair. Especially as the majority won't see any benefit from the game - no tickets, no extra income from tourism, just an extra long commute.

You'd think if they can offer people working for governing bodies tickets, they could offer local clubs a few tickets.

Seems to me theres more concern about keeping the corporate bods happy, and sod the general public. I shall be so, so peed off if there's loads of empty corporate seats...
I know what you mean Faith, so many dedicated people to their sports that can't get tickets, it doesn't seem fair but the BOA or LOCOG not sure which gave all Governing Bodies the option to buy tickets early.

I do feel a bit guilty that people have devoted their whole lives volunteering/competing for this sport yet just because i am paid a salary by them I get the chance to buy tickets

I'm excited! But mainly because they will be taking place in our time zone, not because they're in the UK per se

I didn't want them here But now they're here I'm sure I will be very proud of the show we put on!

Yep. It's going to be horrendous for vast swathes of people who have no option but to struggle in and out of London.

The news that the levy is likely to continue beyond the original date has also enraged me. Who could have predicted that?

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?

I am super excited about the Olympics. I usually watch it on tv - lots more sports than I usually watch - and I think it is fab that it is going to be on in this country. I will be watching the torch go by later this week, I attended the diving test event at the aquatics centre, and I have tickets to see sports at the Olympics and the Paralympics.

Getting the tickets has been very hard work though... I only got womens football tickets from Locog (and added some volleyball in round 2.2) but have bought most of my tickets from other European ATRs.

I am surprised that people who originally applied didn't manage to get any tickets last week, the sale seemed somewhat better organised (putting it mildly) than previously.

And Abbie is correct, Paralympic tickets went back on sale today, and Olympic tickets will be on sale from 11am on Weds.

I don't normally have any interest in the Olympics and this year is no different.

I am not at all excited BUT it's a historic event so I am 'faking it til I make it'. I'll take the kids to see the torch and will try to watch some of it.

Zilcho interest from me.. although I was curious to see how they brought the massive olympic flame over on the plane didn't realise it was the tiny lantern thing

I sat for an hour every day trying everything. I don't know how many tickets were actually on sale but everything I tried came up as unavailable There were some very expensive ones left- the £300+ for a preliminary round, but I couldn't justify that for an hour and a half.

So I doubt there'll be much available in the general sales

I am also interested to know how many people actually got children's price tickets. We applied for loads in this first round. Again I get the feeling they will be selling the full price tickets first, and you'll only get your £7 child ticket if there's any seats unsold.

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?

I generally try to catch some of the gymnastics & will definitely do so this year as E is is into gymnastics so she'll like watching it. But other than that I don't really bother.

I'm not a big fan of the fact the a lot of money has gone on hosting it and |I'm not sure if the economy will get it back or that my daughter's gymnastics classes will be disrupted because one of the teams will be training where she does gym classes.

Overall I'm not a huge fan, but I quite like them.

Oh & a Camille's Appeal representative will be carrying the torch for part of it's journey this year, so that's good.

    It's just glorified P.E. really isn't it?

I'll tune in the Opening ceremony though just to see who that wheel out for that one.

I'm sick of all the London/Olympics/Union Jack merchandise that is every where. The clothes shops especially are full of naff items at the moment.

No, I dont think it is. Its a lifetime of training for some people.

I am sort of looking forward to it, I enjoy watching it on tv. My OH cousin is a torch bearer in our town so we are going to support her doing that. I think the torch relay definitely seems to be having a positive impact on communities.

This is Han for anyone interested

If you didnt get any tickets in the first two rounds you should have had priority a week and a half ago to get tickets before they go on general sale at 11am this Wednesday.

I applied for quite a few different events in the first round and didnt get any, applied for 1 event in the second round and didnt get it, so purchased some the week before last.
