How do you feel about the olympics?
In general I like the olympics; I don't keep up with the build up but when it's on I try and watch a fair bit of it - I like the athletics, swimming & gymnastics most & the rowing.
This year, I don't know if it's the BBCs OTT build up but I'm less interested than usual (although perhaps that's partly because it hasn't started yet & there's ages to go) but I'm already a bit bored. The financial aspect is a bit annoying too; not only is my tax going on hosting the games my license fee is being thrown at it too.
I don't live in London so the games feels the same amount of inaccessible as it usually does.
I am hoping it will get my daughters more interested in sport but overall im a bit
What do you think?

Not interested at all and was out off massively with the ticketing system also
I'll probably watch the open and close some gymnastics and odd bit if nothing else is on but Wont tune in especially - this is the same even when it's not here do means nothing that it's here teally

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?
I like to watch them on telly, but have no interest in them otherwise. The torch is coming by here on Friday and I have been non-committal to the boys as they want to go but I can't see the point. Actually, I suspect they only want to go because they get to leave school at 1.30pm

I think it's a massive waste of money. I heard a politician (can't remember who) say last year "We aren't cutting back. We don't want London to be known as the austerity games" and I thought Why not? That would be a great thing, reducing the spend on bollocks like opening and closing ceremonies, logos that cost £400,000 and look like they could have been done by a 13 year old on PowerPoint, and just put the focus back on sport. Greece nearly bankrupted itself in 2004 - you think we'd learn something from that.
Sorry

I like some of the Olympics despite that they are the Olympics, IYSWIM. I like watching some sports I'd never normally watch, as well as things I like, like cycling, swimming, and taekwondo.

I'm thinking about taking Ava to see the torch but I'll only watch the same amount on the TV as I usually would. All the advertising is a bit overkill though. I saw some athlete on a billboard advertising Subway and I was "eh?".

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?
Totally indifferent if it were not that my commute to work is likely to be trashed. I intend to try and work from home, Cornwall or Paris for as much of the 5 weeks as possible. It will be a nightmare for London workers. Sorry just not that bothered by sport

For me I cannot wait for them to be over my journey to work is already becoming a nightmare due to all the road changes they are making.

Quite excited actually.
The torch is over here in July so we'll probably take the girls to see it (it's here on a Saturday) we've got tickets for a couple of events so I'm quite looking forward to it

I'm looking forward to them and can't wait to see the torch especially as one of the torch bearers babysits for my two. I'm illegally keeping them off school to go and see it! Would have loved to have got tickets but no luck despite applying for lots. Will watch a variety of different events on TV.

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?
Lady Leah, how come you get tickets through work? Seems unfair (not having a go at you, just the ticketing system), when athletes families can't get tickets, or young children actually involved in the sports can't go and see it. You'd think if they can offer people working for governing bodies tickets, they could offer local clubs a few tickets.
Seems to me theres more concern about keeping the corporate bods happy, and sod the general public. I shall be so, so peed off if there's loads of empty corporate seats...

Re: How do you feel about the olympics?
And apparently that is the case... I might be making it up, but I'm sure I heard a figure of 20,000 unsold corporate tickets. I presume it was all allocated years ago before all the anti-bribery legislation was introduced, not to mention companies cutting back because of the recession.

I've heard good things about the No7...
Anyone have a cheaper version of the clarisonic?
