It isn't. It's a common error. The correct way to write it is: dvds

that's what i thought. I'm a grammar pedant through and through but the more diluted rubbish I see the more I question whether I'm the one who's wrong. Does anyone else feel like this?

the grammar in this country is appalling. Yesterday I passed a massive billboard sign, for a major high street retailer who really should have known better, that read "CD's and DVD's". I felt like writing WTF???? all over it. my blood pressure was rising..

I think people use DVD's because DVD is an abbreviation, so they are not quite sure what to do.

I prefer DVDs but I'm not AS offended by DVD's as by Lad's referring to more than one lad.

We get signs all over saying "road not suitable for HGV's". Grrr!

I put Dads and Lads on the flyer and the head teacher has changed it to Dads' and Lads'

What a blessing to have teachers who know their grammar! Ours are shocking!
