Dd is struggling to poo/bit constipated - help please
Dd hasn't done a proper poo since Monday pm
She managed a small bit after a bath and a little massage yesterday but that's all and she cried doing it
it wasn't as liquid as usual either as she is still getting newborn type breastfed poos
Tried bath/massage today and it didn't work
She is trumping a lot and they smell! And has passed 4 or 5 of the tiniest bits today but nothing significant even between then
What else can I do?she is screaming when trying and if she gets the urge when sleeping she wakes up crying and is a lot more unsettled
She is mixed feeding alternate feeds so it is probably the formula

We're having similar issues with G since she started the 2 feeds of infatrini a day. She has been going (huge explosion) once a day or every other day but seems very uncomfortable, windy and in pain plus she stinks to high heaven, bless her!
No idea what else to try apart from what your already doing. Have you tried drinking orange juice? My HV suggested this as it transfers to your milk fairly well apparently.Hopefully her digestive system will adapt soon and it'll become less uncomfortable. Poor E! It's awful to see them like that when they are so little.

Cc we seem to have the same problems with our 2!
She usually does a full nappy once a day quite watery but not ridiculously so and not exploding out nappy quantities but would leak if not caught in a short window I reckon
Poor things yes her little mouth when she cries is such a shame she really makes a little sad pout
She seems settled for now at least
Her next feed is meant to be formula but think I'll do another breastfeed see if that helps any
Not got any orange in but will get some tomorrow is still no joy - in gearing up for a huge explosion once she clears the constipated bit!

We were told if no sign for 3 days take to the doc, so perhaps worth ringing in the morning? Am sure it's nothing but they might have a helpful suggestion.

Re: Dd is struggling to poo/bit constipated - help please
Is you dd breasted? Around 8-10 weeks s started pooing once every 10-14 days (though that was always a poo-nami). HV said that breastfed babies digest almost everything and there is very little waste so poo very infrequently. G is getting this way and now poos every 3-4 days. They both still did/do stinky trumps though!
Ps constipation in babies normally refers to consistency of poo rather than frequency.

Wb she is alternate feeds one breast then one formula after the paediatricians advised after our 4day stay in hospital due to low feeding/slow weight gain/lethargic
She did more overnight but was still very thick but not hard pellet like but not how it usually is either
I gave her some water this morning (she took 1oz) will try that again in morning too

Soak about 6 raisins in 2oz of boiled water, let it cool, then drain and feed her the raisin water, worked really well with mine x

Try cranial osteopathy, DD had it at a few weeks, constipation was one of the issues and it really helped. And at about 3 months it was happening again and 2 hours after a treatment she had a massively full nappy and was happier than she had been for days.
