Well it's lucky we only got round to buying me a cheapy engagement ring, because the week before our wedding we inherited this gorgeous diamond and sapphire ring.

It was DH's mother's engagement ring (she died when DH was a child), and was made by his paternal grandfather who was a jeweller, so it's very special. And it fitted!

Thanks! I do love that it has sentimental value, as well as being a stunning ring.

We had no idea it would be coming to us - there was obviously a 'reason' that we didn't prioritise buying me a proper engagement ring, after all!

that's gorgeous. I love the vividness of the blue. The style is also gorgeous. Vintage rings have character that you just don't get from new ones. The stones and the gold are softer. The family connection is lovely.
