SAHM - are you bored when your kids are at school?

Hello

I am currently a SAHM and I can't see that changing any time soon. OH works long hours and frequently has to travel so it makes life a lot easier if I stay at home.

But I do wonder what I will do all day once they are both at school! Am I going to be bored? Or is it one of these things that I will manage to fill the day doing jobs and wondering when I ever had time to do them before ?

It's only Wednesdays I don't work but since DS has gone to school, I love it! My house is the cleanest it's ever been and I have 6 hours of total freedom.

Im not sure how I'd feel if it was every day though.

Sometimes I am bored, but usually I just get all my bits done when they're at school so that I can concentrate on them when they are home, iyswim?

I will add that I have also been in part time adult education for the past 2 years and since last Sept have been spending at least 2 mornings a week doing homework.

Oh yes, I did think that I might do some sort of study once the kids are at school Or become one of those people that lives at the gym

Same MJ my seven year olds at school middle child starting in September and youngest will be four so hes at nursery three days till next September when he starts

I am going to be so bloody lost!

I have a couple of years until my youngest starts school, and I have a list that is SO LONG of all the things I want to do I'd like to retrain or study with OU, I'd like to start my own business making things, I want to go to the gym three times a week, meet friends who are also not working, work on the house, do more hours at the charity I work for, have more time to read, etc etc the list goes on and on, I can't imagine getting bored!

I am a SAHM at the moment but I still have the twins at home, they are starting pre-school in Sept for a yr then off to school. I am hoping to get Bay-Bee website up and going again soon and I have contacted the local rescue centre to help out for a morning once a week to get me out the house and have some interaction with adults!!! I am looking forward to having time to clean the house though!!

Am I bored? Yes and no. I am on two committees in the village, one is playgroup so I am basically helping to run a childcare provider (lots of work and regulations). That is for another 6 months to a year. I also work from home (publishing person) but not as much as I would like to.

TBH I would really like a job now, but maybe only 2 days a week.

I've been a SAHM for the last 4.5 years since our kids came and mostly I'm not bored.

The kids are quite demanding so I try to do all the housework, shopping etc done whilst they are at school so I can be there for them if and when they need it.

I also do a bit of part time work from home and some volunteering, plus walking the dog and meeting up with friends.

I did find it hard at first, but that wasn't just boredom but also struggling to cope with all the change that hit at once.

If I could find a little something more that was totally flexible and in school hours, I would go for it.

Now that I have learnt the fine art of procrastinaion - I am never bored, nor is my house clean/ironing done/fridge full....
