Anyone else's kids asking for Nerd Specs?

    This is making me

DD1 (7) is asking for Nerd glasses. They come from Claire's Accessories apparently and Glee has made them fashionable. All her pals have them. They look a bit like Chris Evans' specs. TBH they'll deffo look like Chris's on DD as she's a ginge too.

She has a pair of smart diamonte specs from Claire's from a year or so back when she was begging to get them ... one of her mates needed prescription glasses and DD2 wanted some too.

When I was 7 glasses were definitely not something kids wanted, changed days.

George and Brad, free with every BlueKat post...bargain !

I've been wearing nerd specs for years!

No not heard of that particular craze, but we're a bit beind here compared to you cool Aberdeen folks!

Not the same, but I've decided when I come to it (soonish) and have to have the reading specs I'm going to get mad, bright red pref' 50s ones with the wings at the sides, a bit dame edna! They had some in the opticians when DH got his new specs (also nerd glassed ) but they were about £300 so might have to scout for a better deal!

I have 'nerd' sun specs, kind of rayban-alikes that are prescription. My chums 10 year old kept telling me how cool I was and that wanted a pair just like me! She recently had to get glasses, and now sports a very nerdy purple pair :)

You could see what Glasses Direct have on their site - if you send your prescription to them you can usually pick a few pairs to try at home and send any back you don't want. Mr S has used them a couple of times and they're so cheap compared to high street places like Boots/D&A and a far nicer experience than Specsavers!
