Can I have your opinion on this dress?

I've done a bit of rash buying today (unusual for me) and now wondering whether I like what I've bought!

I'm going to a wedding in 2 weeks, and have bought a Betty Jackson dress from Debenhams. Have tried to post a picture AND tried to link it but neither seem to be working , so for anyone with enough time on their hands to botherlooking it up, it's the navy fit and flare colour block dress. (http://www.debenhams.com/women/dress...-party-dresses)

We don't have a Debenhams over here, and know nothing about Betty Jackson (or any other designer for that matter), so am just hoping it won't be too granny-ish/unfashionable?

I have no clue when it comes to fashion, so opinions good and bad welcome!

ETA, ok so the link worked!

I like it But then I'm not the most fashion aware girl on the planet! I don't think it's grannyish, but you could easily 'de-grannify' it - if you're concerned - with cool accessories and stuff

I like it too. Seems fairly on-trend to me (although like Melusine I know nothing about fashion!) but not too trendy that you'd feel uncomfortable, iyswim.

I like it but The horizontal dark stripe across the knee might make you appear shorter than you are - but I have no idea how tall you are, so that might not be a problem.

I think it is one of those dresses you'd need to try on to be 100% sure about but it looks lovely.

Thanks all. Interesting about the horizontal stripe cb, see I wouldn't even have thought of that! I'm average height, 5'6 ish.
Good old Debenhams have free delivery and returns, so will see how it looks!

I'm a few inches shorter and DH is a foot taller so I am always aware of looking shorter!

I really like it too, it's a lovely classic dress and puts me in mind of Audrey Hepburn so I'd be thinking about her when looking at styling it

Oh, phrases like 'styling it' make me feel so out of it! I have no idea how to 'style' anything! A half decent necklace and clean pair of shoes is about as far as I get!!! Where do you learn these things??

Re: Can I have your opinion on this dress?

Hope I didn't make you feel like that; it was simply when I saw it I thought of movies made in the 60s and that whole classic style - I just love those dresses There was a programme I watched recently about icons and they pointed out the Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe and now Kate Middleton all wear dresses that cut in at the waist and enhance an hour glass figure.

Anyway, I would wear it with some chunky earrings, either big drops (maybe glass effect teardrops?) or circle earrings in a neutral colour, you know the ones that cover the whole earlobe? I would also pull my hair back from my face or put it up if it was long.

But its a lovely dress no matter how you wear it, think I'll get something similar for my 40th later this year
