I am thinking of retraining to become a TA

I have always hankered after working with children, but when I left school I fell into office work and there I stayed. I was made redundant 5 years ago and after a bit of time off started working in retail.

I have been fed up with this for a while now, I LOVE my job but cant bear my employers, honestly they are so bad (and have a good reputation, me thinks they are living on past glories

)

Anyway since Serena started school I have been helping out in reception classes with the children, nothing major, just listening to them read etc. I also go on all the school trips.

SO a couple of the teachers have said to me about being a TA and the idea was planted, then when I went on a trip the other week the deputy head said the same and asked that I come in to discuss it with her.

I went in this morning and subsequently have just sent my application form off to the local college for Level 2 TA Cert

The Dep Head said I can do my placement there and then they will do their best to get me a job working there!!!!

I am all giddy with excitement now

Wow, how exciting and how brilliant that they obviously think you are great. What a perfect job to work in the girls' school too.

This is my plan once Ethan is at preschool next year

I trained as a teacher years ago but hated it but I've been helping at school since September and love it.

Which qualification is it Adele? There are so many I keep confusing myself looking at them all.

Not sure, have sent the application off today so just waiting on the college to contact me.

That sounds really positive - and you must be good at it if several of the teachers have suggested it.
