Would you expect your child to be offered tea at school?

The drinking type, not the meal.

DD2 (yr 2) had said they were going to get hot chocolate when the class had reached the end of the snail trail. It seems to be a reward thing. She mentioned this evening that they were offered hot chocolate but also the teacher made a jug of tea.

Tea isn't something I would ever think to offer to a child. I know it was the done thing years ago but it just isn't something I would expect them to be given at school nowadays.

I'd not expect them to be offered any hot drinks but I'd have no objection. Actually when I was at school we had Chinese tea a few times at Chinese New year. I remember feeling very grown up

I would be surprised as well.
I remember as a child every Saturday evening we would have salad, a cup of milky tea and eat in front of the TV (Bullseye) as a Saturday treat. My parents knew how to rock! But tea at school in 2012 - unexpected

We are planning a "tea party" at Brownies/Rainbows and I was going to offer soft drinks in proper tea cups - not actual tea. Half the kids this age don't drink regular hit drinks anyway - we have to twist their arms to drink hot blackcurrant on camp when they need warming up

My kids all love tea, I can't bear the stuff but Dh gives it to them and it's nice that they can join in the ritual of having a hot drink.

No, I don't personally think its an appropriate drink for small kids. Mine would refuse it anyway, they think hot drinks are just for adults.

DS had a friend home for tea once. He asked for a cup of tea (age 8). I was thrown just because it's not something we do. I suppose I wouldn't mind them being offered one because they'd say no if they didn't want one. And I'd rather they had that than fizzy pop personally.
