Re: :-( G has lost an ounce. Not sure if I can carry on.
Faith, thank you for your replies. Gwen has a heart murmur and her consultant requested regular weight checks. It's not the HV pushing, it's me worrying and asking her to come. I'm a control freak I guess. My job (scbu nurse) means that we are fanatical about input and output and for me seeing the scales go up is the reassurance she is getting what she needs.
Your right, it is sending me mad but so would not knowing I think!
At the moment my HV is happy but just wants to keep an eye because G is so small still. She spends her whole visit reassuring me so I guess it's me with the problem. It's just how I am. Wish I could just relax but I'm from a family of worriers!

CC, honestly reading your posts I think you *know* that G is fine. Trust your instincts
Weighing twice a week you aren't going to see the scales go up in a meaningful way. It's the pattern over weeks and months you need to look at, not days. If you keep weighing like this you are going to push yourself into formula as you'll see so little gain on a daily basis. I know weight is important in your job, but I bet those scales are much more accurate, and not the blunt instrument they use in baby clinic. I know at mine they just used to watch the needle wobble, and pick a number they thought was somewhere in the middle!
Can you go out and do something nice on Thursday? Keep busy and see the HV next week?

Hope you're not stressing too much it's so easy to get neurotic about the weight thing both ways I know I spent way too much time worrying about it!
Honestly though breast or bottle you have a toddler as well do whatever stresses you out the least is my advice

Re: :-( G has lost an ounce. Not sure if I can carry on.
Just updating this after our cardiac appointment today. We saw Gwens consultant who feels that the weight loss is due to her heart condition and is a sign of how hard her body is working. He encouraged me to continue breast feeding saying its the best thing for her right now but also would like her to have a high calorie supplement with her one bottle feed a day. We're seeing a dietician on Friday for a full assessment.
Despite the fact that today has reminded me of the hard journey ahead I also feel more confident with the feeding. It wasn't that she isn't getting enough etc, she's just using the calories quicker than most.
Thank you to everyone who has replied and supported me, I really appreciate it! I'm sure this won't be my last wobble thread!
