Complaints about Silent Witness
Does anyone watch this? I don't, I've never seen it. But I just read this article on the BBC website saying there has been nearly 500 complaints about a recent episode because of violence.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-17867115
A quick look on other websites goes into a bit more detail about what happened in the scene, it sounds very gruesome

I'm glad I don't watch it!

Re: Complaints about Silent Witness
I sometimes watch this with DH. It is generally a bit too gruesome for me so when they gave the warning before the show we decided not to watch this one. I think we made a wise choice.

Re: Complaints about Silent Witness
I did watch this and although the implication about what was happening was there you didn't actually see anything.
It was a very gruesome story, but I did think it fitted with the characters and the story. He was a very nasty piece of work.

Re: Complaints about Silent Witness
I love silent witness and a certain amount of violence doesn't bother me as long as I can see its part of the story, however I did feel very un-settled about the scene they are talking about, and even though what was going on behind the closed door was only suggested at it was very obvious and earlier in the program there were pictures of the crime scene and what had happened to the guy was discussed so you did know what was happening even if you couldn't see it and TBH I think it was over the top and I almost didn't watch the 2nd part.

Re: Complaints about Silent Witness
Its not a programme I normally watch and switched over and caught what I think must be the scene your talking about, it disturbed me a lot and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I am not surprised it got that many complaints.

Re: Complaints about Silent Witness
Oh yes, we are big fans of Silent Witness, and have watched all the recent ones. TBH, I wondered which episode it was that people were upset by; and came to the conclusion it might be the one in the farm shop with the small boy chained to the wall
But that one, and the one that I now see is in question, are both far more about inference than graphic violence - you visualise what goes on from the circumstances, the music, the reactions, and yes of course, the spatter of blood etc. I am surprised that people think a drama set in a pathology office wouldnt be gory though - I suppose perhaps people prefer the bodies to be dead (horribly) on the slab rather than dying (horribly) in real time?!Fifi x

I watched it and have to agree I thought it was gruesome. Even though it is a violent program, this last episode was more so than usual. Even with the warning beforehand I still think it was OTT. I wont be watching it again.

Re: Complaints about Silent Witness
I've never watched silent witness but this had made me want to watch it. I always thought it would be a bit soft but I quite enjoy gritty, gruesome horrors so now I know it's in that bag, it's made me want to watch it!
