Please recommend child friendly / educational apps
So we've bitten the bullet and got an iPad, but part of me being able to sell it to DH was that we can gets some apps to help J at school. He specifically needs some help with his reading.
Ive hunted around and just can't see anything that wil work and the descriptions on some things are too difficult to tell. I don't mind paying for really good apps but I don't want to buy loads of not great ones.
So, can anyone recommend any apps for kids, particularly educational ones?

How old is your eldest?
Monkey lunchbox is good for pre-schoolers
Maths bingo is great from simple addition to lOng-division.
Cut the rope is a logic one not totally educational but gets them thinking - same with angry birds.

Sparklefish is a fun story telling one - it gets them used to words like verb, adjective etc.
Textropolis & fishtropolis are good for kids and adults - making words from a city name or fish.
We also have lots of barbie, angelina & make up girls stuff on the iPod but your boys might not like it - There's a donut game that dd2 (4.5) likes where she makes and decorates virtual donuts.
