Re: Registry office / civil wedding - what was your order of service?
We had a few songs (one to walk in to, one while we were signing the register and one as we walked out) and a couple of readings.

None. We went in, the registrar did her stuff, we said the "I will" bit, we signed the register which took approx 20 secs (wouldn't have got past the intro of a song), then we all went off to get our photos taken and have the reception.

Re: Registry office / civil wedding - what was your order of service?
For my brides I always recommend one entrance song, 2 for signing of register and 1 for exit.

Today is a day you will always remember
The greatest in anyone’s life
You’ll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as Husband and Wife
It’s a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there’ll be time when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure
You’ll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken
So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It’s the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper ‘I do’
And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.
Then the vows, or it might have been the other way around vows then reading. We signed the register to Heartbeats Jose Gonzales.
Few pics then walked back down the aisle to Lets Stay Together.

My friend had a poem read out by her dad that he wrote the night she was born
.
My other friend, who got married at London Zoo, is massively into Elvis, and had several of his songs during the ceremony and to dance to.

Re: Registry office / civil wedding - what was your order of service?
I've just looked mine up for our civil ceremony (still have a folder on the computer for all my wedding stuff even though it was nearly 8 years ago!) and it went as follows:
Processional
Canon in D – Pachelbel
Welcome
Superintendent Registrar
Reading
On Your Wedding Day, Anon
Vows and Declarations
Reading
Sonnet No. 116, William Shakespeare
Closing Words
Superintendent Registrar
Signing of the Register (Had 2 songs playing whilst we did this, it took a while as our photographer wanted some photos and then all the guests took some as well so plan for at least 2 or 3 if it's a big wedding!)
Retire for Drinks Reception (Walked out to Stevie Wonder's Signed Sealed Delivered
)
Whole thing took 30 mins.
