Not INTRESTED in a sippy cup
Since he was 4 months old I introduced Zach to a sippy cup with water but he has never took any intrest
I bought him a new one at 6 months again no intrest & yesterday bought another one for 12 months it's like he doesn't get he has go suck it as it's a different teat to a bottle... Of course he will get it
He just has 3/4 bottles a day doesn't drink in-between really as doesn't get what he has go d wig a cup so just plays with it in his mouth & throws it on the floor
At 12 months Alfie was off a bottle had his milk/water in a cup & just after 16 months drank out of a normal plastic cup never made a mess.....
Not sure why Zach doesn't seem to like/take to a cup?.

Re: Not INTRESTED in a sippy cup
Mine both had water from a bottle at that age, didn't take to a sippy cup either. I wouldn't worry about it while he's taking so much milk, just keep offering it. They both started drinking from a sippy cup once they didn't have a bottle any more iirc.

Re: Not INTRESTED in a sippy cup
Have you tried an open cup? Rafi seems to be doing really well with a Doidy cup and water at mealtimes (he's 7 months now). He's not too bad with a sippy cup, but spends more time trying to chew it than drinking, but is desperate to pull an open cup to his mouth to drink.

Yes, do try a Doidy cup with a VERY small amount of water in!

Re: Not INTRESTED in a sippy cup
neither of mine took to sippy cups in any way.
They were able to use sport cap bottles though.Im definitely going to hell, but I'll have all the best stories to tell.

Re: Not INTRESTED in a sippy cup
I was going to suggest trying an open cup, as he may prefer this. I know that open cups may not be the most practical for being out and maybe something like this might help

But otherwise, at 1 year old I would think that it's ok for children to drink water from a bottle. What isn't ok for their teeth is if you add juice to a bottle.Last edited by sticky_honey87; 09-04-2012 at 05:34pm.
