Re: Realistically, how much for a trip to Florida for a family of 4?
Claireh, thanks SO much for the tip about the credit card. We're thinking of going to Boston/New England with the kids this summer and then Florida either next yr or year after and I would never have thought of this. We'll rack up the miles as with DH's business expenses we spend a fortune on cards each month.
Do you have the BA Amex where you have to pay £150 fee, or the free one? I'm trying to work out which is better but an not sure what an avios is actually worth?

We have the one where you pay a fee. You can have one in both your names too which may be worth doing if you spend a lot on cards with OH's business.
We are using ours to fly club to Boston this coming November. We used miles to buy my OH's flight and used the companion voucher for Millie (full fair) and then used more miles to pay for me and Oliver. The cost was £1,600 which is the cost of taxes. It would obviously have been less if we used the companion voucher for economy flights.
A cheeky request but if you decide to sign up could I recommend you as i can get 9,000 miles.

Re: Realistically, how much for a trip to Florida for a family of 4?
The one we had when we've booked flight Virgin MBNA - we booked flights from heathrow to hong kong then onto Sydney, 4 seats in upper class using miles only. The fees & taxes totalled £1050 for all 4 of us.
HK to LOndon - we'd booked 4 premium economy seats and I think the fee was a total of £360. Then DH and dd1 got upgraded to upper on boarding - I am still sulking.
But as I said before with virgin we couldn't get miles flights during school holidays which is how we manage to accumulate so much.

Absolutely, although we already have an Amex so not sure if it will work? PM me your details and if we sign up we'll do so through you.
Have you been to Boston with the kids before? Any tips on what to do? I've been a couple of times but not since I was a teenager and I think it'd be a great place for a family holiday, but we're still not totally sure as it is so pricey and we could have a luxury holiday in Europe for less. Sorry for hijack!

Where did you get the tickets from? That's an amazing price for all that as our 14 day tickets for Disney cost over £900 alone!

Chocolate lips- hope you don't mind me asking you a few questions!
which Disney hotel did you stay at? Did you stay at the hotel, around the pool much or were you mainly out? (wondering if a hotel would be a waste if you're not there that much)
Did you get transport to all Disney sites?
Do you wish you'd have hired a car for places like sea world or shopping malls etc?
I went a few times as a child/teen and we always stayed in a villa/self catering... I quite liked going round the supermarkets (such a saddo
) and the freedom of a car but would be interested to know if the Disney hotels are worth it...from memory we never spent much time at our hotel or villa, they were more a base really but some of the Disney hotels looks fab.
