Dinosaur or monsters inc cakes how would you do?
I'm going to make a dinosaur or monsters inc cake
How would you do it?
For dinosaur I have these 2 ideas

How would you do the shape cake?the other is more straight forward
For monsters inc
I think I'd manage this sort ok

But he likes the turquoise and purple character more
So I thought this sort of thing but how the hell would I do sullivan??

Any other suggestions? I'm thinking dinosaur a bit easier but he likes monsters inc a bit more than dinosaurs although likes both!

Hmm - I'd cheat and get a printed cake topper from ebay!

I made this for J when he was four

It was my first attempt and really easy, the cake was made out of two sandwich cakes cut into shapes. This was the recipe http://www.instructables.com/id/3d-D...ay-Cake/#step1 It was great fun to make and everyone loved it. The only thing was it used sooo much buttercream!

I'd make a basic shaped cake, add grassy green or brown icing and pop some plastic dinosaurs on top.

I use modelling icing from the supermarket. Just make a basic round cake, ice it with that icing you can roll out which we all really like, then Dh and I (usually around midnight or 10 minutes before people are due to arrive) then make models out of icing, it's just like fymo. For dd's last birthday she wanted ducks, dogs and rabbits, for ds we made mickey mouse and a mr tumble lookalike. It's really easy and dh and I really enjoy the challenge.

I have got a wilton multi opening nozzle, which is great for doing fur icing.

I'd probably do a blue or green monster with this, and because it's meant to be a bit messy it won't notice if you make a mistake.
