Paint colours for a north facing bedroom
We're moving out of of our bedroom soon once the loft is done and DS1 is having our old room. It's currently the biggest room with a large bay window.
However it faces north and can feel cold. It's currently a lilac toned grey which I've never really liked that much.
I want something neutral ie not too feminine but that will be warmer. I'm usually quite decisive about colours/schemes but this room always stumps me.
Any ideas?

Re: Paint colours for a north facing bedroom
I'm thinking about redecorating our north facing front room, with the intention that DS will inherit it when we have our loft conversion- snap
.
The two colours i am considering at the moment are Farrow and Ball's pale hound, which is a yellowy greigey colour, which is a nice warm neutral, or perhaps Old White, which is a greeny colour. I am planning for him to have Orla Kiely orange car bedding, so I am going for an olive/ orange colour scheme.

Re: Paint colours for a north facing bedroom
I'd go for something with a yellowish tone - it adds warmth but without being too obvious and is fairly neutral.

Re: Paint colours for a north facing bedroom
Our bedroom has windows on two walls so I guess we are south as well as north facing. We have F&B slipper satin on the wall and I love it.

Re: Paint colours for a north facing bedroom
Well the "Trading Up" people told us that the light that filters into north facing rooms has more blue light so makes these rooms appear cold. They need to have warm tones, so reds oranges and yellows. They repainted my Dh room a yellow colour and the transformation was amazing! Helped sell his house too!!!

Re: Paint colours for a north facing bedroom
Thanks all - some great ideas. I love rich yellows - the room next door is Laura Ashley Deep Cowslip. It's quite small but the yellow works beautifully in there so I'll look at some paler more neutral toned yellows. I love the idea of F&B Pale Hound - that name rings a bell so I'm sure I've noticed it on the shade card - thanks Sunshine.
Claireh - Slipper Satin is the shade I originally wanted for that room but couldn't decide. We ended up painting it twice in cheaper Dulux (I didn't like either colour) and I'd wasted so much money on paint I just left it as it is
I should have stumped up for the shade I really liked in the first place.
Anne - what's 'Trading Up'? Is it a refurb service for selling your house or a TV prog? I'm intrigued.

Have a look at Rieker sandals - they're...
Is there actually any such thing as stylish, comfortable summer shoes/sandals?
