***November/December Mummies***
I know its too early for any December mums to join this thread but I think there are a few November mums out there who like me have been waiting for a thread to join.
I am exactly 5 weeks today, i have a docs appointment on Wed where i assume they will refer me to my local hospital?
I think my OH and I know have our heads around the fact that im pregnant, about 20 tests made him feel more confident I wasn't winding him up!
I've been reading a lot of mags which is kind of helping. My sister is due in a few weeks and is happy to loan me loads of equipment and clothes. I want to buy some stuff new though. Travel system for example, bottles etc. I am in total denial about gaining a bump! I'm sensibly dieting at the moment and am losing weight, its really weird to imagine myself 2 stone heavier. Doesn't help that OH keeps referring to the latter stages of pregnancy as being fat, I should give him a whack!
Obviously being so early I'm just focusing on getting to 12 weeks. I have very mild nausea and am getting a delivery of those anti sickness bracelets that are supposed to help, will have to let you know if they do!
Anyway I've whittled on enough, hopefully I might come back to find some other slightly nervous contributors on this thread

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Hello, I'll be joining you then. I'm about 5 weeks too, although on paper i'm 7 weeks after a 20 day AF!
You sound so very excited which is lovely
, congratulations again. I'm still trying to get my head around the shock of the prospect of becoming a mum of 4!
. Starting to feel a little happier though, and DH is thrilled.
I just have sore boobies so far and my areola seem to have doubled in size already
, but normally don't start feel sicky until 6-7 weeks.

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Hi girls,
Not sure if I should be worried but I had some dilute bleeding tonight. I did have a fairly vigorous sex session so I am hoping I had a little tearing or something. Am going to wear a pad tonight and I'm praying in the morn that there is nothing significant there. God I hate all this waiting business until I hit 12 weeks, I'm on pant watch all the time!

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
I must admit Im not enjoying this at all so far. Brown spotting all day yesterday. GP reassuring but basically its a waiting game and hope all is ok.
Im going to try to "forget" Im pregnant for the time-being and hope the next 6 weeks go by quickly and the brown doesnt turn red.
EW, errr Im sure your sex-session would be the answer there

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
I'm not enjoying it either! Had mild cramps all day yesterday and had pink/brown discharge all day too. Nothing dense or clotty.
So far today have felt absolutely fine bar a craving for crisps that hit me hard at about 7.30 this morn!

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Is this your first child Enchanted?
AF type cramps are normal, Ive got them and remember having them with DS.
I still had very very little brown discharge yesterday (yuck sorry hate that word!!).
Ive just physically been sick this morning - had this with DS. Soooo glamorous, DH had to pull car over (on way to work) and I was sick out the side of the car. Lovely!
Very hard pretending all is ok when people dont know. Lady at work commented I dont look well (Im pale and washed out due to sick).
Madwife how are you doing? You are an expert at this with 3 children already

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Hello girls!
I'm doing OK. Starting to worry about the lack of symptoms, but my sickness doesn't start til 6 weeks or so, but lasts until 19 weeks so I will regret not making the most of still feeling OK. My stomach seems to have massively expanded though, by the end of the day I look 6 months pregnant
so much so so that Betsy told me I have a baby in my tummy this morning because I have a big tummy.
My friend came round yesterday and squealed at my tummy too.
It must be a combination of all the food I'm eating, and my stomach muscles relaxing a lot. DH is teasing that it must be twins ha ha.
Chants- It's very common to bleed after sex in pregnancy. If you call a midwife and say you are bleeding, the first thing they always ask if if you have been having sex.
SJ, glad your bleeding seems to be stopping. The sickness doesn't sound nice, but at least it's reassuring in terms of pregnancy viability.
It's so hard not telling people isn't it? Called the midwife yesterday, as she happens to be the first mentor I had when I started my training. She asked if I wanted to go and meet her before her clinic for a chat, so going down at 12 if she's finished all her morning visits. Need to see the Dr too as I went cold turkey on my antidepressants, and Betsy had slapped cheek the week before I found out i'm pregnant. Combine this with the fact the DH's medication should make his sperm deformed, i'm a little nervous about this little one!xxx

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Thanks girls, that has put my mind at rest.
Is sex during pregnancy ok though? Why does it cause bleeding?
I am wearing anti nausea bands all the time at the mo, and I don't feel sick, although I know there's plenty of time for it to kick in proper. I definitely got motion sickness in both of OHs cars at the weekend, so I think me as a passenger = me feeling rotten.
SJ this is my first yes

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Yes sex is ok Enchanted. Well I assume so, although its the last thing on my mind ATM

Ive just had to go and throw-up in the work toilets oh the shame. I cant believe I am moaning but I feel so awful.
Ive got a lot of time off work over Easter and I cannot wait.
Madwife, thats a lot to think about. Im sure all will be ok and nice to have a chat with your midwife friend.

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Yes sex is fine Chants, as long as there are no issues such as several previous miscarriages, infection or threatened miscarriage etc. I'd forgotten how much better sex feels when pregnant with all that extra blood flow to the area.

The bleeding thing after sex is because (very simply) the cells in the cervix sort of go into overdrive because of the hormones, and spread to the outside. They can then bleed when disturbed and damaged. It's very normal and not a problem.
I went to see my midwife yesterday. She decided that I should have a scan so got me to write down all my details. Then decided she may as well do my booking bloods there and then so sent them off too. She then sent me home with a bounty pack and a set of pregnancy notes to fill in myself, and is picking up the bits she needs on Saturday and signing my notes.
Hmmm not sure whether previously being her student midwife has it's perks or not!!
Aww, but I do luffs her.
Hope the sickness isn't too hideous SJ xx

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
I think thats lovely that you will be close friends with your midwife, and you get a jump start in the queue! Ive not heard a jot from my midwife, think I saw her around 8 weeks last time (currently 6+3 god time is dragging!)
Sickness is awful. Im managing it now and have avoided being sick today. I basically have to eat hardly anything and just pick on foods I fancy throughout the day and then eat a small dinner. Its fruit and pure fruit juice I want, so lots of that really.
Its my sons birthday on Tuesday
so something nice to look forward to - a day trip to zoo.

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Thanks for the explanation madwife, appreciate it

I went to the docs yesterday, got a bounty pack, but there is nothing he could do regarding starting the process of scans etc as I'm moving in 3 weeks. He said they normally scan at 11 weeks so wasn't concerned.
I feel very transient at the moment as I'm moving into OHs house temporarily and then looking around to get somewhere together in the next few months. Bit worried that's going to involve another two new doctor surgeries! I'm hoping I can stick to the same hospital though.

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Chants, where I am the midwife orders the scan at booking. Best to try and make sure you are booked in between 8-10 weeks because scan depts get booked up, especially if you are wanting the nuchal screening (if they do it where you are) because it has be done within a certain time frame (roughly between 10-13 weeks). Good luck with moving, it's a nightmare. Exciting though!

SJ I hope you hear from the midwife soon. My eldest is 10 on Easter Sunday
, I've been getting a daily countdown for about a month now
. Hope you're little one has a lovely birthday. Does he know about the baby yet? Or are you waiting until after the scan? We've told my eldest because she has ears like a hawks, and thought we'd be honest and ask her to keep quiet as she's worryingly good at keeping secrets

I filled in all my notes yesterday, and the midwife is collecting some bits tomorrow and signing them! Hope she agrees that I've assessed myself as low risk.
Right on cue, my sickness has started up today when I think I am 6 weeks.
Lots of stretching pains going on today and tiredness too.
Hope you're OK ladies,
Lorna xx

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Exhausted.com just about sums up how I am.
I do NOT ever remember pregnancy being this hard with my son. But as my DH kindly pointed out I was 7 years younger then.
November seems a life-time away so I hope the second trimester (fingers crossed I get there) is a positive experience. Im finding it hard and fed up of lying to people "hows the running going" have to lie, "why arent you drinking" have to lie.
Enough moaning. Im grateful really.
No, we havent told DS about the baby, wont until the 20 week scan if we can get away with it that long!
Good luck with the moving EW. Hows it going.
I hope we get some December graduates soon

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
*delurks* just saying hello as a December mummy 2011! Feels really strange seeing you all talking about Nov/Dec this year knowing that this time last year I was at your stage. The first tri went in a hurry and before I knew it (although didn't feel like it at the time) she was in my arms. Hope it goes swimmingly for you all!

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Hey everyone!
Had a really busy weekend packing so I've had my head down.
Saturday was not a great day, I felt so so ill most of the day with nausea. OH brought me some ginger root from Holland and Barrett and it really seemed to help. I was up at 4am right as rain, we went out in the day, had lots of sex lol, then about 6pm I started to feel really ropey again!
So I have no idea if its just coming and going of its own accord or whether anything im doing is helping.
Foodwise I've turned into a weirdo. Can't tolerate most things I.used to like, I seem to have a problem with textures now, I only want to eat crunchy things. I can just about eat fruit but soft veg makes me want to heave, as does butter, unless its on toast. In also off tea but can drink weak coffee! Plus I'm freezing cold all the time when u was exoecting to be hot!
I'm 6+4 today

Re: ***November/December Mummies***
Lol I know! I have a very sexually frustrated OH, so I'm just telling him to get on every time I have a nausea gap. So romantic!

Oh glad the cold thing is not just me. I am defo craving carbs and salty stuff. Really glad its not sweet stuff and it took me years to wean myself off chocolate and co.

Hi girls, can I join you please? Very very early days but I'm bursting to tell people! Due around 13th December I think, so only just 4 weeks (got BFP yesterday) but very excited
Hope everyone is doing ok and not too sickly! My main thing is tiredness, oh and hunger at the moment.
