Re: Muamba - how awful (possibly sensitive)
He was prob down about 30 secs before anyone got to him, they then tried to turn him over but it did look like he was having a seizure of some kind. Poor man, I am hoping he makes a full recovery.

Re: Muamba - how awful (possibly sensitive)
This happened to a friend of mine who's fiancee died at exactly the same age. He was playing basketball and just dropped down (he died straight away.) She was 6 months pregnant : - (
Since then I've heard of it happening a few times where there is a genetic disposition.

Re: Muamba - how awful (possibly sensitive)
Awful isn't it? Hope he makes a speedy recovery - the one bonus was that medics were treating him in less than a minute, there aren't many places where medics are able to respond so quickly.
(I don't mean that to sound trivial btw, just grateful it happened there and not on his way home etc)

Re: Muamba - how awful (possibly sensitive)
there can be a genetic defect, the sad thing is you usually find out when something awful like this happens
. My cousin had a screening done at work by a charity and now several people in my family have been identified with the defect, my cousin has just had a pacemaker fitted.
hope Muamba makes a speedy recovery

Re: Muamba - how awful (possibly sensitive)
The genetic thing is long qt syndrome, which is easily picked up on an ECG. I believe all footballers of muamba's level have a complete health check, which should have discovered it.
Thinking of him and his family.
