Bittersweet memories ... NRR
I am in the process of arranging to have a tape (cassette
) transferred to CD. It's been on my 'to do' list for ages, and I couldn't work out why I was procrastinating about it!
It's a tape of Women's Hour, which broadcast an interview Dea Birkett did with me and some other parents, about finding out your child has a disability. It was done about 18 years ago, and I've not listened to it since then.
I found a tape player, and have just played it - and have been
I sound so incredibly positive, and I'm talking about such a painful memory - I am upset and proud of myself at the same time
And that must have been why I'd been putting it off
Oh, and I sound so 'posh'
Dilly xx

Oh dilly I'd be the same - what a journey you've been on and 18 years ago a journey you weren't quite sure the direction of.
i am ridiculously hormonal at the moment so just your post has made me well up - but I hope you can listen to yourself 18 years ago and see you have lived up to your expectation and be damn proud of yourself

Don't be sorry - I'm crying at adverts at the moment

i just thinkit must be strange listening to yourself at the beginning of the journey - wish I'd have kept a diary actually..
i always think you sound totally upbeat and focused on what matters

Re: Bittersweet memories ... NRR
I can remember that - crying at the news, too

It's not to late for you to start a diary/blog
I haven't, but I have these little snippets of myself, back when DS1 was little, to look at
A woman I know kept diaries, and then turned them into a book.

Re: Bittersweet memories ... NRR
I wish I'd kept a diary from when DS was small, when I look back I can't believe how positive I was and how much I took it all in my stride (though not without occasional wobbles)
It must be lovely to listen to the tapes DD.
