True Dilly, but realistically how many days is that going to be out of a year? 3 or 4 max?
I would work at E's school in a heartbeat!! Oh the convenience of it!

Re: Do/Would you work in your children's school?
Oh, I agree, Chickpea - although it would have caused absolutely HUGE problems for me, as I didn't have any relatives nearby, and one child with a disability, so it would have been tricky for friends to look after them. So I just thought I'd mention it!
Dilly xx

Re: Do/Would you work in your children's school?
Thanks everyone

- application has gone in today - I'll let you know.
ETA You're right Dilly, that would be a problem, but DH is self-employed and so can juggle to do childcare if necessary (and also if the DC's dare to be poorly!) and I also know quite a few childminders locally who I hope would be able to cover non-sickness days if desperate.=

Good luck, bluesgirl - if the school is anything like DS2's primary school, they love having parents working there

Re: Do/Would you work in your children's school?
Just thought I'd update on this - I didnt get shortlisted

The Head Teacher took the trouble to phone me (which was good of her) to say they had over 100 applicants
and have only shortlisted those who are already doing the job.
I'm really disappointed tbh, I know I would do a really good job and its just sooooo hard to find anything.
So feeling a bit dispondent now
Hope everyone else looking is having better luck.

Re: Do/Would you work in your children's school?
I did think this would be the case re the amount of people applying for it but didnt want to put a dampner on your post.
I applied for a job in a school and they had over 300 applicants for one post so can afford to be very picky.
I trained as a TA and really wish I hadnt wasted my time as there are just no jobs
DS1 16,
DS2 14,
DD 11

Re: Do/Would you work in your children's school?
Sorry you didn't get it, but I wouldn't give up hope.
When I was made redundant from my admin job (after 2 months!) I applied to be an exam invigilator at my daughters secondary school. No experience was required, which was good for me because I had limited experience helping in various classrooms at my childrens primary school when they were younger, and also at our local sunday school.
I found the work really interesting and well paid, but obviously it was only for a few weeks whilst the exams were taking place. I tried to make sure I got myself noticed and asked to be told of any vacancies.
I then applied for a temporary maternity cover position, I didn't get it - but a week later they offered me a permanent job - I didn't even need to be re-interviewed!!
That was three years ago and I'm still there and I love it!!
The only *real* admin experience I had previously was 2 months full-time data processing (before that I had worked in retail jewellery for over 10 years)
Hope you can be lucky too and find something you enjoy really soon x

Re: Do/Would you work in your children's school?
Oh, I'm sorry you didn't get it. Obviously, jobs like that are really sought after. Do you volunteer to help at the school anyway? Because sometimes schools are more like to employ someone who has been volunteering regularly
