What size iPad should I go for?

We've decided to get an iPad 2 for the family - although I suspect that Jamie will hog it entirely!

So we've got some info on price plans etc. from Vodafone which my iPhone is with and basically the 16GB is free, £50 for the 32GB and £100 for the 64GB. Now I have no idea how much space we need but I guess we will have some songs on it, quite a few apps and games, probably some photos and I'm not sure yet about downloading any programmes or films.

So is it worth paying a bit extra for the space or do you think I will get nowhere near 16GB?

Sorry to be such a geek but I really want to get the right one.

    TIA

We have 16GB iPhones & they fill up SO quickly, whereas our iPod Touch has shedloads on it and still more room. Apps seem to take up much more room than pics etc, so we just have to have a cull of the kids games on our phones every now and again, but for a family iPad, I'd definitely say 32GB minimum

My iPad is 32 and I actually have no idea how full it is but I have loads of photos, videos, games, Music, downloads on it... If I needed to I could easily delete a lot of them so it must hold a lot. There are loads of the boys games on here too.
I'd probably opt for 32 as it would be annoying to get 16 and then need more when theres nothing you can do about it.

Thanks ladies I think the middle one might be our best option.

iPad 3 - didn't know that although I suspect it will be rather expensive in comparison.

I got the 64GB as I wanted all my photos and music on there, and I have a lot . I'm glad I did as I can't stop downloading new apps for it!

You can see on iTunes how much you've used.

Have you worked out what it would cost buying it outright without a contract and getting a PAYG sim? If the contracts last for 2 years and you pay an extra fee at the beginning it can add up to a lot (although if you're already paying out for an iPhone you'll probably get a good deal).
I bought mine without a contract as it worked out cheaper in the long run (although it is a lot to pay out in one go!) and then bought a £5 sim from Vodafone. It now costs me £10 for 3 months worth of data (topping-up on the iPad) which is more than enough data for me because I use the wifi when I'm in the house. I'll keep my iPad until it dies, so if it's anything like my iPod, I'll get years out of it.

The logic in waiting for the iPad3 to come out is that the iPad2 will be reduced in price, rather than you buying an iPad3. Well that's my thinking anyway.

Ah yes - I see what you mean! Yes good point and definitely worth waiting until no. 3 comes out.
