    Lemonade scones. http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/631496

Stupidly easy and delicious. They don't keep very well so they will need eating the same day. Such a hardship.

Fab, thanks, this would be ideal to make with the toddlers that I look after.

I made blondie biscuits this morning at 7.30am when found there was nothing for lunchboxes

    The recipe is here.

I made the Hummingbird cake this week for OH's birthday. It's totally lush and is impossible to fail on imo. My oven is a pile of sh*te and over-baked one layer and under-baked another but once it's all together with the cream cheese frosting it's totally lush. I think it might be because it has oil in instead of butter so that keeps it really moist along with the pineapple and banana. Kind of tastes like carrot cake but just so simple to make. Definitely going to be making it again very soon.

I made these today, mine didn't have much flavour but were nice with jam. I used diet lemonade. People in the reviews said they used diet but not sure if this is affected the flavour.

I did the Hummingbird Banana Loaf this afternoon to use up some soft bananas. Ran out of light soft brown sugar so ended up using 200g of tat and making up the difference with dark, but it is still lush

I think it would affect the flavour, although they're not strongly flavoured anyway. Some people add a bit of extra sugar as they're not as sweet as normal scones.

Re: 2012 - What have you been baking?

I tried out my mixer with Shortcake Biscuits and Chocolate brownies, both recipes from the first Great British Bake Off book.

The brownies are lovely, but middle was slightly undercooked. The Shortcake biscuits are ok, I wouldn't make them again though I don't think.

My oven is really old and I'm just not sure of the temp in it at all, I always feel things are getting underdone. It is a fan oven, and as a rule of thumb I thought you should reduce stated cooking times in recipes by 20 degrees (unless it says Fan Oven temp specifically) Is that correct??

Samba, my parents had a thermometer their old oven as the temperature was rarely accurate. They went by that rather than the dial.

I made honey flapjacks that Rosa post on another thread. I used some chopped mixed nuts and raisins.
