Re: Chocolate cake for breakfast?
I was thinking that two successful dieters on here, Ms Sweetcheeks and Katkinn, don't eat much/anything for breakfast.
I also think it's a bit of a myth that your metabolism will be magically "kick started" by eating breakfast. It's already firing quite happily - or you'd be dead! So how much does it actually increase by after eating an early meal?Call me (Mrs) Damz

Re: Chocolate cake for breakfast?
I have to say I agree
I know EVERYONE bangs on about it, but I believe that after a whole life time of not eating breakfast, and still managing to lose weight when I put my mind to it, and maintaining my 9st weight for 4 years between 2 kids, it is entirely possible to lose weight without breakfast..
I don't NOT eat it ti save calories - I do it as I simply have NO appetite in the morning.
However I have to say since this week I have had a boiled egg for breakfast- I am training a LOT in the gym and maybe (I don't know) by eating my egg I don't come out of the gym FAMISHED, so I can just about manage to eat that.

Re: Chocolate cake for breakfast?
I can't eat breakfast - just don't fancy eating in the morning, not hungry! I can only manage tea until lunch time and then I don't have much.

Re: Chocolate cake for breakfast?
Ah, I thought you were talking about something from Starbucks or something which can be 300 calories plus.
I like to have regular protein intake, otherwise I get dippy blood sugar, so I have a scrambled egg (scrambled in the microwave with a dash of milk) on a slice of bread (no butter) for breakfast, with a cup of Redbush tea (no sugar), which is probably around 160 calories or so (don't count them, don't diet, so I may be a bit out).Dilly xx

Re: Chocolate cake for breakfast?
I've been thinking about this - and must admit to a slightly poisoned ear when listening to people telling me how they can't lose weight when they eat breakfast because all my female friends seem to be on permanent diets, of various descriptions, and there seems to be a sort of competitive non-eating thing going on
Some of them seem to absolutely revel in saying they eat nothing all day, then have an evening meal, or only eating an apple for lunch etc. It's quite dull to listen to
And I do wonder, seriously wonder, how a person can get their full quota of protein, fat, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients in one meal a day
I'm not talking about anyone particular on this thread/Damsels, it's just a kind of general trend amongst women I know that's irritating me slightly

Re: Chocolate cake for breakfast?
I don't think it matters what time you eat it, it is the amount of calories you eat over the course of the day or week even that is key.
When I did my most successful diet ... WW a few years back, I skipped breakfast. Even now I just go for a banana and maybe also an apple and some coffee during the week. At the weekend I'll wait until lunch or have a brunch, usually fried eggs or beans on toast.
