    Re: I've quit midwifery!

    Thanks for the kind words.

It was a very hard decision and wasn't taken lightly at all. I wanted to quit a year ago, but stuck it out for another year still feeling the same.

Riss, I kept waiting for the day I qualified so I could go part time too. By that time though my kids would all be in school and a bit older anyway. At least I have a few months left with my youngest. My course wasn't child friendly at all which didn't help.

Giggi, your course sounds much more manageable. You don't have to have to 100% attendance either do you?

Have you thought about becoming a doula instead?

We can have something like 27 days off over the three years but we only do 2 days per week most Uni weeks and the rest is directed study. We had 3 weeks off over Xmas and have been in a total of 6 days since then and now off again til placement starts at the end of Feb! Bit of a joke really. I have got 6 essays to do this year but luckily I don't find them that bad. I have met Nursing students from your 'ex' Uni on the placement circuit and it sounds much more strict. I always planned to get a PT job when I qualified but there is no chance, they don't exist so I'm hoping to find a place that does long days. I know loads of people who left in the 2nd year for the same reasons as you.
