Anyone know anything about Dressmaking Dress Models?

There are a few of us clubbing together to get one for a friends 40th birthday - its what she wants! However I really don't know anything about them. I'd say she's a size 10-12 and wants it to make clothes for herself. Budget is up to £180.

Only place I've looked so far is John Lewis as per below - can anyone recommend one from there? And/or where else could I look? Its not till end March so I have some time to order.

Have a look on Amazon they have various prices on there. I used to have one and they do adjust in size usually 10/12 14/16 etc. I found mine really useful but didn't really have anywhere to keep it and it used to freak me out in the night if I put clothes on it and had it in the bedroom!
Lovely present to give someone who makes their own clothes though

Google Dress Form - you should find what you're looking for. I imagine she wants something adjustable?

Your budget is more than enough to get something really nice. Dressforms tend to be adjustable, but within a range (eg 8-14) so just check that you're ordering the right size. Adjustoform ones are good without being too expensive. If your friend makes mostly trousers then the ones with leg bits for that are good.
JL is as good a place as any to buy, because the wholesale prices for dressforms are high and that means you don't find them super-cheap anywhere really.

ITA w Queenie. I've just checked the prices on Morplan (wholesaler, effectively, though they do sell retail) and once you add VAT it's £10 more expensive than JL.

ETA - if you go into a branch, have a bit of a look round because I thought they used to do one or two own-brand ones too which were basically the ones you've got there but a bit cheaper. They may do them instore still.
