Cows' milk not suitable for under 2s? Anyone come across this?
I was at a meeting about twins group yesterday, and one of the childcare managers at my local children's centre said that the current recommendation is not to give cows' milk to under 2s, just breastmilk and formula. It's the first I'd heard of it! When I googled it, all I found was this: http://www.parentpages.co.uk/familie...void-cows-milk about some Italian study that found it.
Can anyone shed any light?

whose recommendation, I wonder? It's pretty widely accepted that under 12 months its not easily digested, but I haven't heard otherwise except on an ad for follow on formula
Mine had formula until they were 1, when I switched to whole milk.

First I've heard of it and I couldn't find anything when I googled either. I actually moved B on to cows milk when she was 10.5 months, she stopped BF and didn't like formula at all (which I was secretly very pleased about) so I moved her on to whole cows milk then.
I wouldn't put put much stock in it to be honest
L is 6
B is 4

I might worry more if I'd found the info in more than one place! It was just that the lady telling me is usually quite well-informed and was very insistent that it was not right to give under-2s cows' milk. I was just wondering if anyone else had been told that - I'm not planning on buying formula when Rafi gets to 12 months based on a single study.

I work in a Children's Centre, and haven't heard of this?
The current guidelines is breastmilk/formula until 1 year. Although cows milk can be used in small quantities in food from 6 months. Full fat milk until 2 years, then semi skinned.
Guidelines are here:
