Those with gro clocks, how did you teach them how it works?
Another 6am
No chance of rapid return working or him going back off so going to try one of these I think
How do you teach them how it works?show them when setting it up or do I show him at the time by saying looks its still blue and the moon so back to bed?
Thanks

Re: Those with gro clocks, how did you teach them how it works?
Tbf after 6 is allowed in this house. Yes it would be nice if it was nearer 7, but 6 is the absolute earliest. There's no point getting them back to bed for 30 mins-an hour.
I found the bunny clock easier to explain, although annoyingly the click when it woke is loud and usually woke them up...

The gro clock comes with a story book that explains it (sort of). Clara was 3.5 though when she got hers. It has worked really well. If she is up too early she just gets in with me and plays with my phone though.
Thomas was good with numbers pretty early so we gave him a cd clock radio. If the first number was before 7 he was to put a story cd on. He still won't get up before 7-00.

I can handle 6 just about although odd half 5 isnt on! but 7 would be nicer but I'm thinking mostly as he doesn't seem like he wants to be up quite yet iyswim so hoped it may re train his body clock to 7 iyswim,I'm still hoping it may be a blip and he will just go back to 7 but I'm starting to wonder if not!

No experience of the gro clock, but we just used a timer plug with a nightlight plugged in.
Very simple to use and explain, we just set it to be on between 7pm and 7am and told the boys that if the glow light was still on, they were to either go back to sleep or play quietly in their room.
Worked like a dream and probably cheaper than gro clocks...
Eta - all my older kids now sleep really well. Will do the same for Jemimah if she needs to, but at the mo she sleeps until 8ish.

Re: Those with gro clocks, how did you teach them how it works?
If I'm perfectly honest I think he's too young to get it at the moment lisnic....Alex was 3.5 before he truly 'got' it, yet he's had his clock since he was 2.5 - Alex is an early riser, has been since he was about 19 months - its hard, but I've just got used to it, he wakes anytime from 5.30 onwards, he's of an age now where he comes in, tells me he's awake and then he'll play in his room until DH and I get up, which is 6.15 during the week and 7 @ weekends.

Re: Those with gro clocks, how did you teach them how it works?
That's exactly what I was going to say - I think he's way too young for it at the moment. Anna only got hers last spring after going through a long phase of getting up early but she was coming up for 5 and we just wanted her to understand that if the star was still on she wasn't allowed out of bed.
I think if Elliot had one he would understand it now but he doesn't get out of bed by himself, and isn't an early riser now. At your DS's age he used to wake up early though and one of us would just get up with him; when he was a little bit older we'd tell him to snuggle down and go back to sleep which sometimes worked.

Re: Those with gro clocks, how did you teach them how it works?
DS was over 3 when we got him his too and it worked pretty well.
What time does he go to bed? I was just too optimistic about the sleep DS needs. 11 hours is his maximum. I tried to set it for 12 hours and it was pointless. 11 hours works pretty well (before he was often up after 10-10.5).DS born April 2007

I think Tab was nearly 4 when we got the clock. We just told her to stay in bed until her sun came up, and read her the book. Keep it simple I reckon!
