Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Oh, I didn't know we had a running thread.
I'm a new runner, started in July using a running ap on my i phone, I did the 5 k version, and am now just over half way through the 10k training. I have a half marathon to do in Feb and the Brighton Marathon in April........no idea if I will be ready, but I can give it a good go

Sunday is my long run, yesterday it was on the treadmill as DD had a party at the gym and I did 8K in 54 mins, normally I go out and have a cross country run. Today is my day off, tomorrow it will be either the gym or 5K on the road, but its going to be dark when I go out at 7ish. Wednesday is gym with 10K on the cross trainer, thursday is deep aqua areobics or pilates, friday zuma. And saturday is normally family bike ride, swimming etc.
All this from the lady who hates any form of physical activity!

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Slowly! I felt rough at the beginning and my mate felt rough in the second half so we ended up walking quite a lot. Still, it was a gorgeous day and we laughed a lot (you've got plenty of breath to chat at that speed
) and she's raised over £1,300 for her charity so it was worth doing.

Well done Jelly

Welcome to the thread Booh - you sound very motivated
I did 7.5K yesterday - should really make more effort though as I'm only getting out once a week at the moment. Hoping to force myself out tomorrow night

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I keep thinking about doing a marathon before I'm 40 (three years time
) but not convinced I have the time / energy to devote to the training at the moment. At the moment I think I'm going to look to doing a 10 mile run and possibly a half marathon in the next 18 months and then think about the whole marathon thing again. I'm sooooo slow though - 1hr 11 is my best 10K time so a marathon would take me forever

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I think its going to take me about 7ish hours to do the marathon, my friend ran it in 5 hours this year and we have been out on a few runs together........we ran 5 miles, then I went home and she then went for a 'proper run', as I'm such a snail!

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Bit late to this but I'm a newbie , just joined the gym and doing treadmill training till my fitness levels are better to start running outside . I have to strengthen my back anyway .
ive signed up for a 7 mile ish race in June , which is mainly cross country and through a few water streams .

So I'm aiming towards that . Any tips or hints esp treadmill training would be good .

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Just seen this! I did enter again but didnt get in which I am actually quite ok about. I really enjoyed all teh training, which I do intend doing again in the new year but I reckon the weekend itself probably cost us about £400 with hotel/diesal etc etc which I dont mind about but to do the same run again seems a bit of a luxury moneywise if that makes sense.
I am still running at least three times a week - doing a couple of 10km runs and then a long run of between 9 and 11 miles depending on how I feel.
I have been running for about 7 years now and am aware that at 47 I need to be a bit careful with joints so am really running now quite slowly (11 minute miles) and for the enjoyment of it.
I still do 3 Bodypump Classes a week, an hour of TRX with a training (this is tough!) and a couple of other classes so I do enough and with the marathon training I only did the PT as the time the training took didnt really leave much room for anything else let alone work and family life.
That was a bit of a ramble
