Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
NooNoo you wil probably find you run better in a few days - when I have a week off its takes a few runs for my legs to remember what they are supposed to be doing

Long run tomorrow - 11 miles so hoping the sun is going to shine

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I hadn't run since end Aug last year after seriously overdoing it and hurting my knee and ankle. Anyhow, I went out last week (Thurs I think) and managed to the end of the road and back (about 2 and a half miles) running, slowly. Wasn't too bad but legs hurt a bit the next day. Then I got a horrible cold. Am now feeling better so will hopefully get back into it. Dark and horrible weather don't make it easy - no streetlights round where I live and seriously vile winter weather. Still aim to get out two or three time a week if poss.
Maybe I'll enter the Hoy Half-Marathon again this year - haven't decided, no guarantee of getting a place either.

The sun did shine - had a great 11 miles - felt good to be back doing long runs again. Booked my marathon hotel room as well last night so it all feels real now

Fab running Caro

I did parkrun this morning in 31.33 and was totally outran by my best friends 10 year old son who did it for the first time in 23.23
My next outing will be the novice session at the local running club on Monday night - feeling very nervous about it

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Be interested to hear how you got on at the running club - I have been a member of mine for ages now but have never been to one of the meets. I joined as I can get cheaper entry fees for the races I enter but I really ought to go on one of their meets.
They have about 6 different groups going out depending on your speed and they have a couple of faster runners who always double back so the slowest person is never right at the back on their own if that makes sense

Got out this morning for 30 minute run - still taking it easy - but pleased that I didn't have to stop

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I've wanted to try running for ages but don't want to do it alone. Another Mum from school just posted on FB asking if anyone knew about the local running club. I said I'd be willing to try running with her. Three of u are now meeting on Tuesday, I hope they don't change their mind. One has run a little bit before.
Do you carry a water bottle when you run? I drink a couple of bottles during an hours Zumba class.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I did when I first started running, but not at the moment for anything up to 5k, but would in the summer even for shorter distances. So thats probaby not much help!!! But you can get a running bottle for a couple of quid at sports direct
Let us know how it goes on Tuesday - good luck!

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I only ever carry water on a 10 mile plus run - however I have built up over 5 years to be able to do that
I always have a litre of water just before I go out, well in the hour before I go out.
If you are well in control of hydration normally you dont "need" to take water on short runs but its whatever suits you. I hate having to carry anything
