The 2012 Running Thread!
I still find it rather hilarious me starting a thread on running as this time last year I had never run (used to hide in the toilets for cross country at school!) But got bitten by the bug in 2011 and have a few running resolutions for 2012 that I though I'd share
Go along to the local running clubs Novice Session next monday night.
Run at least twice a week
Parkrun as often as possible with an aim to get under 30 mins (my current times so far have ranged from 29:35 to 32.22)
Volunteer at parkrun
Complete a 10k in under 1 hour
1/2 Marathon (depends on how my ankle holds out - had to pull out of one in 2011)
A second Marcothon in December
So what's everyone else plans for the year? Anyone signed up for any events? Any newbies just starting out? Come and say hello!

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Hi Noo Noo
I started again yesterday after 4 months off with injury. Im still under chiropractor care so taking it easy. Ive started at week 3 of couch to 5k - dear god to think I could run for 1 HOUR 30 mins last year and now Im at 3 MINUTES I could cry
However, this year I aim to run a few 10k races and also a 1/2 marathon.
However we are ttc from next month so
who knows.
I liked the sound of the Marcothon I must admit.

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
My new years resolution is to run at least once a week - motivation left me in mid-summer as I found out I couldn't make the 10k run I'd signed up to. Went out yesterday and managed 2.5 k in just under 20 minutes and didn't need to stop - so not too bad....

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
Hi ladies, can I join you? I've been out twice with my dad (who's 64 and runs sub 4 hour marathons :bow) over the past few days. I've managed to run for a total of 22 minutes each time, in bouts of 3-6 minutes. We were supposed to be going out today but it's scary windy here so I might go for a swim instead.
I've just entered a 10k in May. I've done it twice before but years ago so my aim is to run the whole thing rather than focusing on times.

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I'm in.
I've been up to 10k fitness twice before but then babies and stomach surgery got in the way and I never really regained my rnning mojo from last summer.
Anyway I am running with a friend a couple of times a week as she is training for a 10k and I would like to be able to do one myself (sub 1hr ideally) by June time.
I need some new kit as I don't really have any tops for running and only 1 pair of crop trousers so a trip to sports soccer might be in order

S-J I'll bet your running fitness comes back quite quickly but take it easy.

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I was up and out the door 6.30am for todays run. Ive decided to go in the mornings now, otherwise by the time Im home from work (not til 6pm ATM) and if DH works late Im just too tired in the evenings. Whereas today Ive already done it
30 minutes in total, about 10 of those running, rest walking, but Im feeling better already.

Well done s-j, I should do the same really. I tend to put other things before my run like today we needed to go to Ikea and with school run etc I couldn't fit in the run too...

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I finally got a place in the London Marathon after 4 years of applying so having had a week off running over Christmas I am back training for this.
Got up to 19 miles for my long run just before Christmas but this week have wound it back to 11 miles and will build it back up in time for April. I do 2 x 4 miles runs - 1 x interval run on the treadmill and a long run per week and do core work for an hour with a trainer on a Monday.
I am lucky in that the kids are old enough to be left and I work from home so can run first thing otherwise I dont think I would be able to fit it all in.

Re: The 2012 Running Thread!
I'm very impressed with you all ladies.
I've entered the Reading half marathon in April so am training a bit for that at the moment. Am doing it as part of a relay team though.
I'd lost my running mojo for a while over Christmas as in I hadn't been for a few weeks but am hoping you guys and this thread will inspire me. I went to Sports Direct today and treated myself to a couple of long sleeved running tops so really have no excuse.
Good luck everyone who's training.
