Re: So... do you re-gift?
Not so much now as most people know to stick to my approved list
but I happily donate unwanted tut to charity shops and school fairs. I also happily rehomed crap pressies from the mounds of stuff the kids used to get in the days of whole class parties although I did make sure it didn't go to the original donor. I'm sure quite a bit of it visited every house in the class

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Only rarely. Last year I had 2 of the same lovely books for DD so I regifted one as I would have bought something similar anyway.

DD born Feb 2010

Re: So... do you re-gift?
I do sometimes but usually only if the item is the sort of thing I would have bought for someone else anyway. In the main, if I think its tat I get rid of it. My MIL does loads of tombolas and raffles for charity so lots goes that way!

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Yes occassionally
Most often we donate to our local hospice shop but i have been known to re-gift for school parties if we have a duplicate gift that can't be exchanged.
Or like one year when DD1 had 2 of the exact same item bought for her, no one had receipts to exchange
2 went to the hospice shop. The funny thing was she'd bought the same thing for the same child the previous year so we had 3 in total- all from the same family!

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Yup. Anything unwanted/duplicates/crap/naff goes in the pressie cupboard and finds a new home as a gift or raffle prize at some point.

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Yes but as others have said, only if it's appropriate and will be appreciated. I can't believe some of you have been given used things as gifts. That's outrageous.
I'm feeling a bit guilty this year as I've regifted a pair of girls' Little White Company pjs that were too small when given to DD two years ago and by the time I was able to get to a White Company to exchange it had been a month since they were bought. I hope to god the recipient likes them as if she tries to change them they'll say 'sorry Madam, these pjs haven't been on sale for over 2 years!'
But they are lovely and we would've happily kept them if they had fit but I do feel bad about the fact that I've kept hold of them for two years on the basis that they would eventually be the right size for her LO.

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Absolutely!
Dh had a really good Xmas of pressies from his class for instance, and that means I have both lynx ( DH would never use it) and plenty of chocolate to give DS for his birthday in January. I don't get on with many smellies these days and teenage girls quite like them - so a carefully chosen book and some shower gel and a shower puff would be the sort of thing I'd send for one of dd2s school friends etc
We have a big re gifting of port too. I think people give it as " posher than wine" and DH is too embarrassed to say he can't drink it and would rather have wine or sherry! At least we have found that bil likes it !
I see no problem with it at all, in fact in these cash strapped times I love it both as a giver ( as long as the gift really matches the recipient) and a recipient of a gift that has been re gifted.

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Yes, not randomly but if it's something that the recipient would definitely like then yes.

Re: So... do you re-gift?
Yes, but only things that are duplicates of things that we've already got - i.e. if the kids get a book we already have it goes in the present cupboard and I replace it with a new one.

Re: So... do you re-gift?
I managed to remove some items from the regifting box and exchange them for stuff I wanted, as Dh found a receipt for some smellies he got me...he went off-list, never a good idea

Re: So... do you re-gift?
I agree, particularly when it comes to kids duplicate or inapropriate presents. If they are never going to watch/play with it then what's the point of keeping it? They either get regifted (usually as party gifts when we don't know what else to get) or charity shopped or car booted.
Adult gifts not so much - usually only if they are highly appropriate for someone & usually as an extra present. I often get smellies/bath stuff I won't use (lots of things make me itch) & these usually get donated to the school fete or car booted. I don't tend to buy smellies for other people as I don't like receiving them myself so wouldn't regift them unless I was sure. I have a couple of good sets of smellies/shampoos etc I'll keep to one side this year & make up a smellies hamper for a Camille's Appeal raffle prize.
So everything gets used one way or another. Much better than sitting in a drawer.
