When we had it I had to hold the trunk up for a moment and then they'd fly out on their own.

Rechargeable batteries don't work properly either-we had the same problem but it's ok with decent batteries.

Its got brand new Duracell batteries in it (my dad always has a good supply here )

You need to use the superpower batteries otherwise it is crap but with the superpower ones in it is great fun. My kids all love it.

We must have just stuck it lucky that the only batteries to hand we Duracell. We've not replaced the batteries yet either.
