Does anyone have Elefun?

Ds3 got Elefun for Xmas, which I thought his older brothers would love to play with him.
But it's doesn't work properly. I've wiggled the snout, held it up straight, checked its on the base properly, but the flying things just whirr around the base with the odd one flying out every few minutes. The kids got bored waiting for them.
Surely that can't be right?

DS2 has it. You have to turn it on then hold the snout up until the air fills it, at which point the butterflies are able to get out.
Does the fan work without the snout on it?

Re: Does anyone have Elefun?
I'm suprised, I thought it appeared on most threads about toys to avoid. I'm sure I have read that it needs decent batteries, cheap ones will not work. It drains the batteries very quickly. I seem to remember posting myself and returning ours based on the negative posts from others. It is so disappointing for children when something doesn't work/can't be replaced.

Re: Does anyone have Elefun?
DD got one a couple of years ago and still plays with it sometimes. It does run the batteries down very quickly though!

You could check that the butterflies are not too crushed - flatten their wings! And the batteries would be the other thing, they do run out very quickly.

Re: Does anyone have Elefun?
We have my nieces old one as DS2 kept saying he wanted it - it's rubbish! Wasn't sure if she just had a dodgy one but we have the same problem with the butterflies not coming out, have put new batteries in etc but doesn't make any difference.

Re: Does anyone have Elefun?
We have one and have had it for at least 4 years and it works fine. Kids love it!
