Re: What are all you crafty people up to lately?!

If I was given a craft choice course for Christmas then I would choose either leaded windows, pottery or glass blowing.

My only crafty things have been knitting bloomin squares for my throw...I've only done 18 & the throw has 90 squares in total......looks like it may take a while.

I now have a very pleasing picture of you working on a tutu with a welding torch, sparks flying in all directions!

I don't know what I want to do really. There's lots of sewing stuff I'd like to do but the courses are few and far between. Or only run as summer school which I can't do with DD1 about. So I'd love to do some draping on the stand and/or pattern cutting for knit. But not going to happen.

Stained glass might be a good one, or wicker work. We're never more than one step away from basket weaving in this house anyway!

OMG how cool would that be? A steel bodice with a mesh skirt?! Not very easy to dance in though!

It definitely comes down to time... like you say all courses are miles away and extortionately priced and would mean hotels and travel on top of fees. I just can't learn from books though really.

Right.... going to get these sodding blinds finished today ready for MY time to do things!!

Did you see the programme with Monty Don about stained glass a while ago? Looked great.... would be a definite good one to get into.

I would go on a jewellery-making course. I'm quite looking forward to finishing this degree, as I will have more time than I've had in a long time to get on with crafty bits and bobs (not had enough time for about 5 or 6 years ). I have started a list of things to do ...

I've been very limited as I've had all sorts of random stuff stored in my craft room since the summer. DH moved it all out last weekend and it seems massive now. Only done cards recently and it's been quite a challenge only being able to use the stuff I could see/reach! I've been planning loads and pondering projects though

i'd love to go on a dressmaking course or a knitting design course.
I am about to try knitting with wire so something along those lines would be good too.

I've got back into my knitting and have finished a hat and now knitting a 'hood'. Nice to do on a cold winter evening.

And think I would like to have a go at glass blowing if had a choice of a craft course.

Knitting with wire? To make what? Jewellery I am guessing?

Well I went and put those two blinds up this morning. They looked gorgeous, very professional. Apart from the fact they were 4" too long.

I normally check and double check when doing stuff for myself but of course couldn't keep going back there so had to go by my notes. I'd made them to the length I'd written but realise now that when I wrote it down I was working out how much fabric she needed to order so added turnings. On the upside they look lovely when pulled up and when she lets them down she'll have to leave a sort of fold in the bottom bit! I don't feel too awful as she didn't really pay me very much (a friend) and then mentioned they might move next September anyway so I told her they might not fit the new place if I altered them!! Honestly though, what a fecking twat, so annoyed at myself.

Am not tidying my sewing room so I can move in here and think again!
