I think the key is to try & blitz the lot as quickly as possible if not in one go then within a few days. Definitely after a bath and I was always too worried about stabbing either of mine so would just squeeze like ripe spot with a head ( sorry) and there is a white ball rather than pus that comes out & you need to make sure you get all the white - you can usually tell as they bleed a lot so dap of mild antispectic and a plaster is best. Harry's were too small to squeeze but Oscar's literally popped out with a gentle squeeze & you could pull the head/plug out.

So sorry for the gross explanation!

No need to apologise - that's all really useful info thanks.

I squeezed DS's like a spot, dispose of the white "head" very carefully as it's contagious, but none of his bled so you may be lucky.

Re: Molloscum - has anyone found anything that genuinely works to clear it?

YUCK! We have done one Didn't have time for a bath tonight so warmed the area with a facecloth first. Put on latex gloves and squeezed. Chose one of the largest ones but needed to squeeze much more than I though but it finally popped. I might have been better to have a pin or something to fish the white lump out but I eventually managed to find it in the blood and get it onto a tissue. Dabbed with some antiseptic on a cotton wool pad and then covered with a plaster. She needed a whole Mars bar just for that!!! I assume I just leave the plaster on overnight and take it off tomorrow? This main cluster is in such an awkward area on the inside of her elbow so she is currently complaining that the plaster is sore. Plan to stock up on chocolate and attempt more tomorrow! Not sure how I'll get on with the tiny ones as some don't really seem big enough for squeezing? Any more hints and tips gratefully received!

Only squeeze them when they look ready. Otherwise they won't squeeze. I use tweezers to get the White head out. I tend to leave the plasters on for 24 hours. And yes I tried to do as many of them as possible in one hit.

Tbh I found it easiest to do with H as she really understood a) that if we squeezed them they'd go much much quicker b) that the hurt was really only during the squeezing thing rather than for ages afterwards c) that if she didn't move or scream and was co-operative it would all be over far more quickly and d) that in reality it didn't actually hurt that much!! It's just like squeezing a spot. It honestly doesn't hurt them that much!

The small thing on the other hand. it took two of us to hold him down and do it and he used to be hysterical but the outcome was so so so worth it! Even he says it's much better not having "loscums" They used to rub under his arms and he used to complain about them being sore

    Good luck!!

Thanks Kat that's really usefull. Will go armed with a tweezers tomorrow night also. TBH even if we managed to get rid of all the large ones it would make a huge difference.

She was telling DH tonight that we were squeezing them because someone on Mummy's laptop did it and it really works and you get to have chocolate!

Yes I thinks so, but it seems to be much more common in children although strangely my sister who is a Pharmacist and has been for nearly 20 years had never heard of it?!

Noo noo I do seem to remember that there is a mother spot or the like. You need to get rid of that to also stop them spreading. It's nearly always the biggest and the angriest. But tbh I read so much crap about them that that could be total tut!

I also read and was told by my dr that it's incredibly rare for adults to get them. Something to do with our immune systems being more mature and being able to overcome the virus or some such gubbins.

Ooh and finally I would say ime they look a Lot worse before they look better after you've squeezed them. Mine all looked like something from a bad Hollywood movie for a couple of days at least but the suddenly they look completely normal.

And none of mine have scarred from it either. A couple of nights all 3 of them had more plasters than skin in their upper arms and upper torsos!!
