Best place to buy Fondant icing

Hi need to get some fondant icing, and floriste paste/icing. God knows what it is called.

Can you tell me the best place to buy on line, and also once the pack is opened how long does it store for.

    Thanks

We get fondant icing at the supermarket/ocado with regular groceries. Not sure how long it'd last after opening - we don't ice stuff often so probably throw the rest away as it goes hard.

Are you needing a huge quantity or just for a single cake?

Hi - I use an ebay seller knightpilgrim - they have a great range of sugarpaste and lots of other lovely cake making goodies!

They also have a website www.cake-stuff.com

If I need some in a hurry, I just buy from Asda/Tesco - Dr Oekter stuff is fine to use.

Be very careful, what it's called is incredibly important. Fondant is the American term for what we refer to as ready roll icing / sugarpaste. If you ask a UK shop for fondant icing then you might get something rather different, a runny type of icing that covers things like fondant fancies (hence the name).

Florist paste is something entirely different again. It dries incredibly hard and is used for making flowers out of sugar.

I would recommend blueribbons.co.uk or surbitonart.co.uk amongst others

sorry so rushed and abrupt but on my way out the door
