I think I might be totally mad!

DH runs a ladies' football team. (Hopefully not for much longer!) He has enough players signed on, but each week he is struggling to get a team for the matches.

He seemed desperate enough (and I am stupid enough) that I felt sorry for him and agreed to play.

So, at the ripe old age of 41, I have been to football training for the first time in my life. When I went to school, girls didn't play football. (I used to play netball and hockey.) I'm hoping that there might actually be enough players for the match on Sunday (perhaps just because they might have to cope with me on the team if they can't summon up enough. )

Anyway, I managed an hour and a half of training without collapsing, and despite not being able to actually kick a ball, I'm still quite pleased with the fact that I coped at all.

Well done you! I used to play in a ladies team, albeit, very unprofessionally Ours was more for fun and keeping fit than actually playing against other people (we just played against each other, 5 aside).

Though we did have a kit, sponsored by..........

My daughter's team have had one of the coolest sponsors in their club- the local Indian restaurant. Unfortunately they couldn't sponsor this year, so the team is now sponsored by a snack food company- just not the same.

Wow, you did well to manage that long! I played just a kick around game with the kids in the holidays and it nearly killed me. Mind you it was 90 degrees at the time! And I only lasted about 20 mins!

I reckon 20 mins at 90 degrees is probably a bit tougher than what I managed last night. However, it has made me decide that I should probably look at getting back into sport. Maybe not football but exercise DVDs don't really provide the same motivation (for me, anyway.)

PMSL Adele I did have to look it up just to see what sort of company it was!

Coolfm - you're a brave lady. It's one thing to just run round for a relaxed kickabout, but another thing to be playing competetively!
