Anyone's got/had a Vauxhall Zafira
What do/did you think of it?
We have sold our Golf Gti
to release some money & buy a bigger car.
After looking at some BMW 3/5 series & Audi cars and not finding a good one, we have settled on Zafira.
Would like to know what you think of it so I cam give OHs the damsel approval :)
TIA x

Re: Anyone's got/had a Vauxhall Zafira
I've had 2 and liked them. My first I had for 6 years without any major repairs. They're not pretty but they are functional!

Thanks RT, yes you are right on look of them, I don't like them that much either but for the amount we want to spend & the availability of them, we are having to consider it.
Good to know it's reliable.

I've had two, bought the second one when my 1st one got written off!
I do like it, but because I don't really go that far I find it heavy on petrol (1.8 petrol). My 1st one was pretty basic, but this one is one at the top end of the range and I'd definitely go for that if you don't mind paying the extra (million times nicer with leather seats). I've never had any problems with either of mine, so would recommend it for reliability and i don't think the newer shape ones are too bad to look at really. The boot is a really good size and the extra seats do come in handy :-)

Can you not get a diesel instead? I thought it was usually better with bigger engines to go for the diesel version.
Friends of ours have had a Zafira for about 6 years now and no major problems (other than her DH accidentally ripping the sump out when driving down an unsuitable road, but that's not really the car's fault!). They don't treat it all that gently, either!

Re: Anyone's got/had a Vauxhall Zafira
We had a Zafira, it was great to drive but once it hit £100K miles it went downhill. We spent more than it was worth in repairs in the end.
We've not got a Grand Scenic Dynamique. It is a budget type car like the Zafira but the seating is much better. It is car size like the Zafira too, I didn't want to drive something too big.DS July 2003, DD1 January 2005, DD2 August 2008

Re: Anyone's got/had a Vauxhall Zafira
I've got a zafira which I brought as a temporary car a few months ago to getaway from a 4 litre petrol merc that was costing a fortune to run. I went forthe 2.2 petrol new shape zafira and although in comparison the Mercedes it isgreat on fuel, I wouldn't say it was in reality. I am really struggling now tofind something I want to change too. The boot is fantastic (sometimes too big)and having the extra seats is great. My one criticism is that there reallyisn't a boot with all the seats up which is a bit of a pain. I love the versatilityof the car and it is very easy to drive and solid. I have a real fear of being in an accidentand I feel safe in the Zafira. My Dh isa car nut and although he says it is boring to drive he thinks we should get anew one and stick with it! I never sawmyself as a people carrier person but I love it. I hope that helps and good luck!

Re: Anyone's got/had a Vauxhall Zafira
we had one and it was fab - the 2 'boot seats' were just suitable for kids under 12 (imo) and it greatly reduced the boot capasity (well obviously
)
The only thing that put me off getting another was when (a ford KA) went into the back of us when we were stationary and the back crumpled like we had reversed badly into a post

Re: Anyone's got/had a Vauxhall Zafira
yep - I like my zafira overall, but the lack of boot space is annoying... We're vaguely looking for a VW Caravelle cos as you say the rear seats are only for small children (but I think that's the case in the majority of 7 seat cars...) & Euwyn/Brett are starting to complain of lack of leg space already...
