What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
Having some trouble with Skye and naps. She sleeps 7.30pm-5.30am most nights although she can still wake and re-settle quickly inbetween times. Because she wakes so early she can't last long before napping again, usually around 9ish and will sometimes go down for 2 hours This morning it was 8.40 till about 9.30am. But then she gets tired again late afternoon and I find it hard to keep her awake. If she sleeps again then she is wide awake at bedtime. Then add illness and teething and it is all turned on its head again so don't really know where we stand. I think one long nap in the middle of the day would suit her best (and an extra hour or two added onto her night time sleep would benefit us all!)
What does your little person do?

Sissy does 6pm-5:30am and nap is generally 9:30/10 for anything from 1-3 hrs. 2 dOes seem to be the average atm so she's up at 11:30/12 and then is awake until bedtime.

Sophia sleeps 7pm to 8am. Morning nap is usually from 10.30 till I have to wake her to do the nursery run at 12pm.
She then drops off again at 3pm in the car and sleeps till about 4.30.
Some days she won't sleep in the morning and I put her down after lunch and she will do 3 hours straight but I think she's a bit young to drop down to one nap really.

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
Not dissimilar but it sounds like Sissy gets more sleep at night which is maybe why she lasts till bedtime. We don't eat dinner till 6pm so don't think we could get her down much earlier, especially once I return to work. Hmmm.
How are you all anyway? How is Sissy getting on? We should maybe have a catch up thread now they are all one or nearly one. Happy Birthday to Sissy! Did you have a good day for her 1st birthday?

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
I guess a thread like this is pointless to an extent as it just shows how different they all are and need more/less sleep. S only has about 12 hours in every 24 I would say. I do try to get her back to sleep in the mornings but she is just not up for it. And if she sleeps for as little as 15 minutes in the afternoon I notice the difference at bedtime and have trouble getting her down. Argh! Finn was similar and was starting to merge into one nap by now I think. He started to drop his nap altogether around 18 months although he did sleep some days of the week in the car/pram...
Hi Elvis and Sophia by the way!

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
It is a difficult one. I only have my experience with Ella to compare to and she didnt drop to one nap until about 14 months.
I am finding the nursery the biggest hurdle in getting S to nap. Her naps always seem to be disrupted by the school run. I have found that she sleeps much better at the weekends and during school holidays.
On another note entirely she is an absolute pain in the butt at the moment. Clingy, generally grumpy, frustrated cos she can cruise but not walk, constantly having to be removed from situations etc

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
Will have to do a proper catch uP thread when I'm not on my phone!! I have to say though Elvis, Sissy has been on one nap a day since about 9 months so a year isn't too young! I've never tried to fit a baby around an adult routine. My kids have/had nursery tea at 4:30pm and adults eat later. At this age my other kids were in bed at 5:30 but Sis wakes so early we've kept her at 6-6:30pm for bed.

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
Both mine were on the verge of dropping their naps at that age and were on the following routine:
Wake: varies, anytime after 6 usually, Conor was almost always after 7
Nap:9am till 10ish.
Nap: Con would go at 12-12.30, Dec went down at 1, he needed less sleep.
Bed: 7-7.30, Conor would be going at 6-6.30.
As they got close to dropping their am nap, it would be harder and harder to get them down for a second nap. So I'd gradually cut back on the am nap till they were only needing 15-20 min to get them through to the lunchtime nap.
2 kids, 2 very different sleep needs!

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
Thanks Moffgal. Good to see the differences from child to child. KK, I don't think it is a case of forcing S into an adult routine. Up until now it is has worked fine and she kind of fell into that routine herself. There is no way either of my kids could go to sleep at 5.30pm! If Skye goes to sleep any earlier she wakes up as though she has just been down for a nap. I think it is a more a case of a transition between two naps and one that has kind of thrown things. She is actually asleep again at the moment but I think she is coming down with a cold or something as her nose has been streaming. But it will work out well as hopefully she will have enough energy to see her through till bedtime.
Thanks all for the advice.

Re: What naps does your (roughly!) one year old have?
p.s. agree Elvis about other things getting in the way of naps. I don't think it helps as most toddler groups etc are in the mornings and F gets so bored at home that we tend to be out and about a lot (he goes to nursery 2 full days).
