Re: April/May 2011 mummies over here please!

Hedgehog, I coudl have written that myself re the bottle/breast feeding. I'm full on bottle feeding now and have not looked back. I made the right decision for us... thanks to a great midwife who talked to me 'straight' (as I sat there in tears with bleeding nipples and in excrutiating pain...). Good luck...
WHERE IS CHICKSTER? I am getting worried.....

So Zach is 6 weeks now, we are passing that 6 week mark Things here seem OK. He is def being more vocal now & we have loads of smiles going on..

I am putting him in his own room tonight, Alfie went in his own room at 6 weeks because he was sleeping through so im going to do the same with Zach

How hot has it been today What are you putting your LOs into bed in?? Lastnight i put Zach in a vest but tonight i think im just going to put him down in his nappy.......

Zach is now 12lbs 13oz. He isnt going to be in his 0-3 stuff for much longer it goes up to 14lbs & i can already see that some things are getting abit tight.... I cant believe it i reckon by the time he is 8-9 weeks he will be in 3-6 months stuff

Re: April/May 2011 mummies over here please!

Fangol - it is so hard dealing with a baby and trying to get time together isn't it? I'm trying to make a conscious effort when Luca is asleep in the evening to have cuddles with my DH but its hard when you have loads of bits to do that you haven't done in the day because you have a newborn!

Try not to have any guilt hedgehog, it's easier said than done but there's nothing to stop you from mix feeding, your supply will end up asjusting to whatever feeds you do give him surely?

We've had another rough few days Luca was getting really unsettled again and his chest was still so stuffed up and he was miserable, so I had my 6 week check up on Weds and mentioned all this and she said she still wasn't happy with his breathing - so back to the hospital for us again We only stayed there for about 6 hours in the daytime whilst he was poked and prodded again.

He had a chest xray and all is clear, but the consultant paediatrician thinks he may have a milk allergy. I had one as a baby myself so I always knew there was a chance of him having one. Anyway it would explain his awful skin (which the HV kept telling me was millia but it used to flare up after feeding), his breathing/chest difficulties, his gassiness, fussiness, excema and loads more. Anyway he's been given a trial of two weeks on a special formula (which is over £30 a tub if not on prescription ) and a follow up appointment so I'm hoping for some progress. He's had it for two days now and his skin has pretty much cleared up and he seems to be feeding a lot better and when he's asleep he is sleeping a lot more comfortably. Last night he went about 6 hours between feeds at one point which is pretty much unheard of.

I'm exhausted though, this is hard work!!

I would going to suggest a change in his milk if you had said his skin had flaired up & other symptoms seems to be a sign of a intolerance to milk. I have heard that milk kicks in fast if they do & sounds like it is working for him....

Yay for going longer between feeds lastnight

I had my 6 week check today they booked out a hour & we were in & out within 5 mins. I saw a male GP. My scar was not checked, just my blood pressure asked how i was. Zach had his chest listened to, a feel of his balls a check of the hips & we were out... I did get the gaviscon & the colief on perscription though so that saves me £16 a week

Cant believe he is 7 weeks now. Going to get him weighed tomorrow i think then il do it every 4 weeks after that i think......

Zach has been very unsettled today after his 9am bottle, i think its wind issues again... I have not been able to get alot done today as have had to keep holding him. Didnt get to the gym like i wanted to, i dressed in my gym kit ready this morning to go after the school run, Im going tonight though Although dreading it, it is going to be a killer

    Hi ladies

So finally we are all over here now! Congrats to NA and Chickster on the last two arrivals!

Hedgehog - do not feel guilty about feeding at all. I always think you should go with your instincts. Listen to advice and take what you want on board but ultimately, do what you feel is right for you and your bubs

PRgirl - so sorry to hear Lucas is still having a rough time. Surely things have got to look up for you guys soon. I feel so sorry for you that you've got all this on your first baby as things are hard enough with your first.

Ellie is settling in well. She had a restless day yesterday but then slept from 9.30pm until 5am and then again from 6 until I had to wake her at 8 to get her fed and changed in time for the school run! Don't expect the same tonight though as she's had a sleepy day! Even when she sleeps a lot during the day, she'll still do a six hour stint at night! During the day she's feeding every 2-3 hours which is fine. In the evening, it can be a little closer together as she tanks up for the night.

Got spoilt by my in-laws today. They had Ellie for an hour while I went to the dentist and picked up a few things in town. Then they cooked me lunch and cuddled and played with Ellie the whole time giving me a lovely rest. Bless them!

Hope you're all doing ok and look forward to hearing more about your LOs xx

Re: April/May 2011 mummies over here please!

    Hi All!

Again, sorry for my silence. It's just been one thing after another with dh away, total tiredness (sure my age makes a big difference!) and trying to get out and about/keep on top of the cleaning etc - oh and a stroppy 5 year old .

All going ok here. Little Bea is adorable and things are ok. She has unsettled days (CH I so get the can't put them down thing!) but I can generally make sense of what is going on and don't feel too frustrated at the moment (I did by this stage with ds....). I haven't had her weighed for ages so am going tomorrow but she is growing out of her newborn stuff so I'm hardly worried. She really cries when she has a bath still bless her, she just doesn't like being naked! She is now 4 weeks old , I don't want these new born days to end....

I'm feeling quite run down - I think it's the getting up in the night (1am and 5am so that's not bad is it??? I'm not sure...), mastitus which knocked me for 6 and now I have a sore throat and swollen glands so I have stayed at home today, eaten lots of fruit to try and take care of myself.

Glad everyone else seems ok. CH, can you drive now? How is your C section scar? And how on earth was the gym??? Oh my goodness, what a thought! I have just started walking C to school, am hoping to do there and back by next week. My legs etc look much much better but I have a horrible 'post baby' paunch which I hate .

Sounds like you are doing well, DM, how lovely to have in laws to spoil you. Mine are down on Saturday but I dont' think it will be the same for me...... A 6 hour sleep chunk sounds great. Long may it last. PR girl, what a run you have had.... it's bloomin hard enough as it is. Lets hope once the chest clears you will have a clear run, goodness you deserve it. Talk about a baptism of fire....

Would it be bloody ridiculous to change her name from Beatrice to Beatrix at this late stage? Honest opinions appreciated.... I just can't quite put it to rest. We haven't registered her....

Love to all and please write with news if you get chance!!!

    Take care xxxx

DM that is great how did she do lastnight???? Lovely of your In Laws as well

Hope you feel better soon Fangol. Cant believe Bea is 4 weeks although i guess when i think Zach is coming up 8 weeks on sunday

CH, can you drive now? How is your C section scar? And how on earth was the gym???
Yes i can drive now, been driving since 5 weeks after having him. The scar seems to be healing ok. Gym was hard work i really struggled i jogged for about 4 mins on the treadmill at a speed of about 4.5 which is nothing & it was a killer, also everything was wobbling which i hated I use to run at a speed of 8+ so im way off that & run for 45-60 mins.... Seems like it is going to take me ages to get there

I dont think it would be silly to change her name. As you say she has not been registered so it really doesnt matter - do it if that is how you want to

PRGirl i tried to PM you but your inbox is full, i went to the post office to post the swaddle to you & i had not written you address on it I have deleted my inbox of PMs as it was all gettign full & now i dont have your address I tried to PM you earlier but couldnt get the message to you
I went Monday & have not been since, i was going to go today but i just have not had time - running around sorting out bits for OHs birthday meal tonight he is 30 today

Im stressing now though as i ordered a load of stuff to try for his birthday meal on sat & none of it fits it all look hideous, some stuff i could get on just not go up & had about a 3inch gap where i could not button things up Some 12 stuff didnt fit. Even a size 14 pair of skinnies didnt fit me I have nothing to wear & nothing in my wardrobe fits me - i dont have alot of trousser stuff left as i sold loads of it on ebay as i knew i would want new clothes seeing as i have not properly shopped in 10 months.... I also need tp lose the weight b4 i start buying properly..... I feel such a heffa & so big at the moment..... I really dont know what im going to do/wear...
I have my fake tan lady coming tomorrow to spray me so on Friday il go out for a few hours & try some stuff on in the shops being tanned things always look better......

Hi Fangol - if you haven't registered her yet, it doesn't matter although I expect most people already know her as Beatrice so you may have some explaining to do! She'll still be Bea whatever you decide and I guess that's what you call her most of the time anyway?

CH - haven't you got any nice mat stuff to wear? I'm still wearing all of mine as I'm not back to my original size yet and my mat stuff was so lovely, I want to get my money's worth out if it! No-one will know it's mat stuff!

I'm still finding it difficult to walk long distances - anyone else finding this? My pelvic area still feels so weak like I've been on a 50 mile horse trek! I've also started bleeding again which is so weird as I didn't get af until DD1 was 7 months so I'm guessing it's just more post natal bleeding?? Anyone else had this?

Hope everyone else is well, particularly PRgirl. Are you getting out lots my love? Hope you are meeting up with other mummy friends and getting plenty of fresh air. I had a bad time first time around but once I started going to baby groups and meeting friends, I felt so much better xx

Re: April/May 2011 mummies over here please!

Hi everyone - sorry I haven't been posting! I feel like when I eventually have the time to post there's lots I want to write and I don't always have the time / energy to do it I will try now...

Congratulations to all the latest arrivals I will admit that my mind got a bit boggled and in the end I couldn't keep track of who had popped and who hadn't

PRgirl I've been thinking of you I totally get why you're feeling guilty about finding things tough when you've wanted Luca for so long. But just because you really want something, doesn't mean you're going to find it easy and l

CH I think the gym is probably going to be tough going for quite a while? I have my 6 wk check up next week and will ask when I can start exercising, but I don't feel like I would be able for anything hardcore yet!

Fangol - I think you can definitely change your dd's name still! It's only a minor change and probably won't affect what you call her on a day to day basis? It seems to have been on your mind a lot so you should definitely do it if it feels right.

DM lucky you being spoiled by your in-laws! Re the bleeding, my continuous bleeding stopped after about 10 days, then it was on and off, and up until about a week ago, I was still getting a little gush of mucousy / watery blood when I had done a lot of walking etc. But it seems to have stopped now.....still don't feel like I can count on it being totally over so wearing a panty liner all the time just in case!

Things with us are pretty good on one hand and  on the other. Over the past week and a half, Alice seemed to get a bit more demanding during waking hours and didn't want to be put down. She's always been un-settled in the evenings, even more so in the last few days. BUT she has slept through the last 5 nights, only waking at about 4-5am for her soother, and then going back to sleep until anywhere from 6.30am to 9am But we don't get any peace in the evenings and so hopefully the next step is for her to go to sleep a bit earlier rather than being grumpy, very hungry and crying on and off until about 11 every night.

She had an ulstrasound on Friday and it confirmed that she has congenital hip dysplasia in her right hip and she had a harness fitted yesterday She has to wear it for 8 weeks and hopefully that will fix it, they did say it wasn't too bad. The harness looks like this (this isn't her!):

She has to wear it 24 hours a day, and we can only remove it once a week to bath her, and then go back in to hospital the next day to have it put back on again. It's very restrictive in terms of what she can wear, and I've been really at all the lovely little clothes that I bought specially for my precious baby and now she can't wear them anymore. I know that's stupid but it makes me sad that we will kind of miss out on her being a 'normal' teeny baby.

I'm sure I have more to talk about but she's screaming for her bottle now so I better go! Lots of love to everyone

Not really no, i lived in leggings which im wearing now, my maternity jeans i cut up into shorts as i got hot but they have a big hole in the crotch not sure why/how?? I have plenty of tshirts etc? Im ok on the top (except my flabby arsm) its my bottom...

SS my GP on Monday said i was ok to start excersising without looking at mt scar, Alot of pressure i feel for the gym/getting back in shape (although i want to) is from my mum. I have just had a shower & looked at my scar & it is opening again 9always in the same place) looks red & inflammed. Im going to have to phone the GP tomorrow for a 3rd lot of antibotics.. I need to phone for Zach as well not sure if he has conjunctivitus coming so need to get him checked over & whilst they do it i will get them to look at my scar. I had a feel of it earlier & in 1 place it is rock hard then it goes squidgey round the rest of my scar well about 1/2 a inch above it?? Anyone know what it could be or why?? Should i be worried?? I wondered if im feeling old scar tissue??

SS sorry to hear Alice has congenital hip dysplasia i dont really know what it is though or what it means/causes it? Have you still got labels on the outfits that you can take back get your ££££ back although understand what you mean about being sad she wont be able to wear them... I guess it is like all in one sleepsuits for her? I have seen a baby like this before. I thought that pic was off Alice to start with i was going to say she had got really big
